Hip scar sunken in and dented

My thigh was tight and the scar area was hard in the beginning and now 4 months later my scar is sunk in and dented. It looks dented and feels dented. It also is still sore when I touch it. When I put my hand in my pants pocket I feel the big dented scar. Anyone else have this issue?

I too have the same issue. My surgery was March 6, and now five months later (noticed it about a month ago, so really four months later) it is dented in and a little sore to the touch. I've wondered many things about this:

*I sleep on my left side a lot, so maybe I've decreased needed circulation?

*My leg is getting stronger from bicycling and swimming. Maybe the muscle is slower to grow in the incision area than the surrounding muscle?

*Could I have an infection deep down?

My sister has had two total hip replacements several years ago already, and hers look just fine. She has a slight indent years later and thinks it's because there's less muscle beneath the incision. She is a very active person and always has done workouts, so it's not from a lack of exercise!

I had both hips done around 2 years ago now.

Scars have faded quite a bit, some signs of a dint, but generally pain free.

However, from time to time I do get mild twinges in the area of the scar/hip for no particular reason. Im not sure why this kicks again after no aggravation of the area on my part.

Is it that the wound and the joint keeps on healing in the area even after the 2 year mark?
