    Hi melissa,

Fine as long as you are not doing the catering!

Make sure you have loads of back up and help in the home set in place BEFORE you go in for the op.

I'm not sure what you mean by ok. Can you let us know what you're wanting to do then others can give better advice.

At 2 weeks you still have to be careful not to bend the hip more than 90 degrees so that means raised seats and toilet seatsseats. I was still needing pain killers and they made me groggy and not particularly social.

Don't be surprised if Christmas is the first day you get out of your pajamas and get dressed. The first two weeks for most of us are pretty rough, but then it gets BETTER!

Sorry but I was still in my robe 2 weeks, & swollen pretty bad, you should plan on not doing much that day bc lack of sleep is still a big thing. If you have to do the Holiday Entertaining, I would think family & friends would understand & lend a big helping hand to you, you could pre cook all your side's & anything else & freeze it so all you would need to do is pop it in the oven, I did this with my every day meals any way for the family before I went in the hospital, almost on 4 weeks today & I was able to do some baking & cooking 4hrs worth but my husband did the shopping for me.

Hi Melissa glad you have fixed yr date. I was like you when I got my given date I thought brilliant at first then oh dear as it kind of got in the way of plans already made! Reading from other people's experinces 2 weeks post op ( all being well and no complications) we could be mobile with one crutch and able to get out and about. I'm hoping so as 16 days after my op date I've got a concert to go to. Fortunately seated.  I'm using this date as insentive  and a motivator to work hard and get myself back on the road to recovery. What kind of holiday have u planned?  Annie

You will be having your stitches out 2 weeks

after op. my wound is not dry yet.

i am on my 15th day and couldn't imagine

going to a concert. All the medics say be careful

not to pick up any infections. However, good luck

      with your plans.

Hi cathie. Yes I realise I'm being a bit ambitious and chances are I might not make it to this gig but I'm setting my sights.  I do have a smile on my face while I write this as I really have no idea how I'm going to be and I know I'm being terribly naive!! My friend who I'd planned to go with says I've got no chance of going and tuts every time I mention it!   Will keep u posted. Optimistic Annie

Hey you never know all surgeries are different I know my surgeon said I will be walking in two days and only have to stay one night in hospital. Also I will not have stitches or staples but a mending glue that devolves. So I wish us luck and hey you never know keep up the good attitude.

I've got tickets to see Texas!!  Fortunately it is seated so I'm hoping i will be fit enough to mske it. Tricky bit will be getting to the venue. I've already got ear ache from well meaning people saying it won't be possible but if I can I will be there. I see it as good incentive to be good work hard and achieve

Thank you for all of your advice . I am just hoping to be able to look decent and go to my family's house not far from where I live but will need to get in the car I of course will not be driving. I just want to sit with family for Christmas for a few hours then back home , any opinions?

I think that sounds doable. You may tire quickly and probably need to have nothing happening the next day, but I would plan to get there for 2 to 3 hours. Have fun!

If they live close by, I think it is doeable, however you might not stay as long as you would have hoped. IF the home you are going to has a bedroom on the same floor as the party, you could just lay down over there if it gets to be to much. Hopefully they will have a soft chair for you to sit on. or a soft sofa. Just getting dressed to go out may be very tiring for you so perhaps get dressed early enough so that you can lay down and rest a while before you leave. Basically at two weeks you are doing everything slow. Wash your hair the day before so that this is already done. I used the kitchen sink to wash my hair. And don't forget to get your head under the running water you keep your operated leg straight and you stick it out behind you so that it carries no weight, You lower yourself using your good leg if you need to.
