Hippy Birthday to my right hip, 6 weeks today!!

So it's been six weeks and time for some reflection. What's just happened. I feel like a new woman.

Before my surgery I was wearing a patch for pain and taking opiates every night. I was on crutches for three months and used a walker to carry things and get around at work. The pain was terrible.

Today, I'm taking panadol, swimming 20 laps of freestyle, a couple of breaststroke and it feels fab. Last week off, finishing hydrotherapy and heading to work next week. Looking forward to getting back on my bike this week, I've been using a stationary one at the gym.

I have no regrets.

For anyone waiting, hesitating, worried about this surgery it really does make it all better. Yes it hurts a bit but nothing compared to the preoperatve suffering.

Its nearly the end of winter here in Australia, I'm looking forward to getting fit for summer and hanging out with the kids at the beach.

Most importantly my sense of humour is returning. I can see the lighter side of things. Before I was so caught up in pain I was a grumpy cow. I'm enjoying feeling more relaxed and having a laugh with the kids.

I wish for everyone else no matter what stage you're at a better future with less pain and much more mobility....and fun!!!

Happy Days !!

    Hi Georgie

So glad everything is going well for you. I so envy you folks that can swim - just never been confident in the water at all. I love to watch folk swimming, but just cannot get the hang of it, maybe at 63, it's a bit too late....

Glad you are feeling brighter and not in that awful pain - it makes such a difference doesn't it?

    Best of luck ongoing

    Linda xx
