Home Remedy for Bartholin Cyst that WORKS!

I'm 24 and starting getting bartholin cysts just over a year ago. It has recurred at least 6 or 7 times, and I have had an Incision and Drainage performed twice, one under local anesthetic and once under general. I can't stress enough, GET THE GENERAL! The needle with the anesthetic was BEYOND painful, and I'm not ashamed to admit I screamed bloody murder when they cut the thing open! Hands down, the most painful experience of my life. With the general, I experienced zero pain and no memory of the procedure.
Yesterday, to my horror I felt the familiar hardened bump start to rise. Today at work, where I sit at a desk all day, the pain went from tolerably uncomfortable to unbearable. After being driven to the ER and speaking with a doctor, I decided to forgo the surgery, or at least postpone it, and give home remedies one last try. In my searches through forums and websites, I saw the same remedy mentioned a few times: Phoebe's Cure. I decided I had nothing to lose, drove to the pharmacy, and picked up the necessary ingredients: a bottle of calamine lotion, a bottle of witch hazel, a bottle of tea tree oil, and a roll of gauze. At this point, it was about 5:00 in the afternoon. I drove home, drew myself a hot bath and added Epson salts, and sat for about 20 minutes. When I got out, I soaked the gauze in a mixture of 6 oz of calamine lotion, 2 teaspoons of witch hazel, and 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil. The recipe actually only asks for 1 teaspoon of the latter two ingredients, but at that point I was almost hysterical with pain so I figured, go big or go home. I soaked the gauze in the mixture, then covered the cyst (likely an abscess at this point) with the gauze, held in place with my underwear. I left this for about 40 minutes, swapped for a hot compress for about 10 minutes, then applied another soaked gauze for about 30 minutes. At this point, I couldn't even help crying from the pain. I took a painkiller, and drew myself another hot bath, this time using table salt instead of Epson salts. I stayed in again for about 20 minutes, then restarted the cycle of changing the soaked gauze every 30 minutes or so. I could feel the cyst growing in size and getting even harder, and I noticed the mixture in the gauze was causing some stinging. At around 9:00, about 3 and a half hours after I drew the first bath, (WARNING, this is gross! Please do not read past this point if you are squeamish!) I was lying on the couch and suddenly felt liquid drip down. I put some mild pressure on the gauze, then went to the bathroom to see what was going on. Full disclosure, I'm also on my period right now, making it extremely difficult for me to tell exactly what was going on. I pulled the gauze away and sure enough there was a large spot of pus about as big as a Canadian Twoonie. I wanted to cry in relief, but didn't let myself believe I was out of the woods yet. I swapped for a new gauze again, left it, checked again, and sure enough, more pus. I put pressure on the spot where it seemed to be originating from with the gauze, and when I pulled it away, more pus. I cried with absolute relief.
I have never, ever found a home remedy that was even remotely effective for this ailment or any other. I am BLOWN AWAY at how effective this was! Let me preface this by saying I'm not a medical professional by any means, but I believe this worked by bringing the pus to the surface of the abscess until it finally burst. The originating spot of the pus was the spot that had become the hardest and probably the most painful point on the abscess over the three and a half hours of changing gauzes.
If you experience painful bartholin cysts or abscesses, PLEASE give this a try! Absolutely worth it!

I'm 42 and started a new relationship 6 months ago. I didn't have sex often in previous relationships, so maybe that's why my bartholins cyst has started. I've had a super active sex life all of a sudden with this new person that I am very happy with and now I have this crazy cyst that won't go away. it doesn't hurt (except once during sex so we stopped and I did warm compresses). it shrinks and grows based on arousal. I just started epsom baths for a long weekend of seeing if this works. drinking a lot of ashwaghanda, turmeric boswellia tea for inflammation. my obgyn looked at it and said its ok to just leave it if its not hurting. it goes from the size of a pea to the size of a grape. I guess I'm just scared its a tumor or something. anyone else have this fear ? since it doesn't ever ever ever drain.

Use more lube! My Dr says these can be aggravated by friction but lube will not only protect the skin but allow the glands to open naturally so you will release the liquid instead of building it up. A hot compress will help the liquid resorb after sex if there is still swelling or soreness. She also said that a pee after sex might not be enough, ideally we'd do a rinse to get everything off.

I am 38 and have been dealing with a recurring cyst only on the right side since I was 23. It was the scariest and most painful experience of my life the first time, as I had no idea what was wrong. Luckily, I have a very kind GYN who has gently treated it each time. Usually, once it starts, I cannot stop it and I have to wait for it to get large enough to have it numbed and lanced, which frankly is the least painful part of the experience.
I wanted to share that last Sunday, 8 days ago, I felt yet another nightmare developing. I wasn't yet aware of Phoebe's Cure, so I did my usual routine of hot baths and compresses, which of course did nothing to help. I scoured the net for a homeopathic remedy I could try until I could get in with my GYN and on Saturday gathered all the ingredients to begin the cure. For 3 days and 3 nights, I'd take a hot bath, apply a 2inch square of solution soaked gauze, using my comfiest granny panties lined in the thinest panty liner to hold it in (altho, full disclosure my lip was so swollen, it was stuck in between) and super comfy pants. I laid around with a heating pad, changing the gauze every hour and soaking every 4ish hours. I also diligently took 800mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours, which sounds like alot but I find you gotta stay ahead of the inflammation. I applied a fresh gauze before bed on nights 1 and 2 but on night 3 I just swiped the cure on instead of applying the gauze, as I had noticed the dark spots and didn't want to aggravate it. I followed the recipe but did a touch less tea tree as I know it can be irritating but I did not experience any irritation. I will say, I noticed on day 2 Sunday, the cyst shrank significantly and on day 3 Monday, it started to be very touch sensitive and I could feel sharp pangs that came and went. I also noticed a dark spot developing on the fullest part of the cyst. On the 4th morning (Tuesday), I didn't feel the same pressure when I went to get out of bed and I noticed wetness down my leg inside my sweats. When I went to the bathroom, I could've cried, finally sweet relief! I gently lowered myself into a less hot but still warm bath, then took a look with a hand mirror. The hole that developed is... Troubling. It's very dark red, but not unlike burst cysts I've had elsewhere. I GENTLY pressed around area of what remained and it drained very quickly. There was little pain, very much like when my Dr does it. I just mimicked the hand motions she uses, 2-3 fingers together, gentle pressure, never directly on the cyst, just around it. I am seeing my Dr tomorrow (was supposed to have it drained) so I will update this with what she says abt this cure. I confess, I am anxious she is going to tell me not to do it again. But now that I know it works, I would start it at first feeling and make it go away before it gets big and painful.
As I said, I have struggled with these my entire adult life. No one can tell my why they happen or how to prevent them and until now, I had no treatment other than let it become engorged and debilitating and have a Dr cut it open. I should add, I also had a small lump on the left that was painless but noticeable and this treatment made that go away!
I hope this helps, thank you so much Victoria for sharing this cure. You have helped me more than you'll know!!

Replying to add:
I went to my Dr's appt today and she said everything looks good. I've been prescribed 3 days of antibiotics to prevent infection and she said this treatment would be safe to continue using. She also explained this could be hormonal, as I started my period on the same day this began and that has been the case in the past as well.
I cannot tell you the relief I feel, having this cure in my arsenal. Thank you again for sharing this, I really cannot thank you enough.

i never post on these kinds of things but i did the phoebe's cure method today, from 11am to 4pm, with one application of the mixture every hour or so, and tonight at about 7:30 there was a rupture and the cyst (which had been lingering for two full weeks and not being impacted in any way by 4x per day sitz baths) is now less than half its original size. i'm hoping the rest of it will drain if i use the compress a few more times tonight/tomorrow. i was really hoping to avoid surgical intervention and kind of can't believe this worked?
