Hi all,
The problem with emails giving errors or page not found messages has now been fixed. There was a problem when the fix was put live which resulted in a few hours of notifications not being sent for which we apologise. If anyone does have this happen again or any other issues with emails/notifications then please let me know.
Regards,
Alan

Ok back to the drawing board and thanks for letting me know. I'll get this reported again.
In the meantime if it helps the issue is the link from emails go to this format:
If you remove /Contents/ from the link in the address bar url the link will work.

It's mixed - your posts came up with the dreaded 404, others have worked.

So far I've not had any error 404 messages. Hope I'm not tempting providence!. What does happen from time to time is that I get email notifications twice even though I mark them as read on here and delete them from my in box. I can live with that but still mourn the forum as it was.
I only speak for myself but have an idea I'm not alone; although I can use IT to the extent that I'm able to benefit from much that it offers I have no basic knowledge and therefor am floundering and struggle to understand when something that I've got used to is re-arranged.
Many, perhaps most, people communicate more than adequately orally and in writing without having to know too much about grammar. ( Gerunds, past participles, pluperfect anyone? ) but would be thrown if somehow the rules were arbitrarily changed so why is it all right for what Margaret called IT jerks to ask us to re-learn?

Hi all,
I haven't replied until now as we were working on this yesterday. The issue with emails giving 404 error messages has now been fixed. The fix will also mean any broken emails previously received will now work. I have checked this with all of the emails I received and the examples users forwarded and pasted in discussions.
Once again sorry for the inconvenience and please confirm emails are working or let me know if there are any issues.

Looking at it it is just an error rather than a 404 error.

Clicking on the link in your post took me to the post...

It does me on here too. Perhaps it was just a glitch. I need to find the email I deleted!

Hi Ptolemy,
I've removed the link from your post above as I have deleted that particular discussion. It was posted by a market researcher trying to appear to be a normal user.
Re the error - I expect it was just a glitch but if you do get any more like this you can try refreshing the page (Ctrl/F5) or closing the window and clicking the email again. If you consistently get an error let me know. I haven't had any other reports of issues so hopefully we are there 😃.
