I think eating balanced meal and regular physical workout will give you success. So, try running and jogging. It is my suggestion to you. And take some nutritional diet as whole grain, fruits and salads.

Hi there, different things work for different people, but I think the best advice is to avoid faddy diets. My wife and I use the Fast Diet - 5/2 intermittent fasting which, I swear, is not as hard as it sounds. Choose two days a week to eat 500 calories (600 for me) and within reason eat what you want for the other five. My wife lost two stone in three months and now only fasts once a week to keep to her new weight - any more and she'd keep on losing.

The great thing about it is that is solidly backed up by research, and lots of it.

I'd recommend getting the book from your library, because it answers all the questions you'll have which, I promise you, will be the same ones everyone else does.

Good luck, whichever way you choose.

I know this sounds really simple, but the bottom line is that you are taking in more calories than you are using. It is a simple mathematical equation, calories in = calories out = no weight gain. So you must either reduce your intake of calories or burn more calories throughout your day so this calculation is less calories in and more calories out to lose weight. I would do a little of both. I found one of those calorie counters very helpful, because even when I thought I was having a good day I still had too many calories coming in. It checked me every day and I realized I had been eating too much for a very long time. Even a little too much adds up... 1 extra pound per week is 52 pounds per year!! It is hard to change the way you eat, but you must. I would not worry too much about what you eat (however more veggies and lean proteins are best) but how many total calories you eat. Your health depends on it and it is worth it.

PS One little trick I used, was I would take my dinner plate and remove 1/3 of the food and put it onto a smaller plate and put it in the fridge for lunch the next day. This way you would reduce your calories by 1/3!!

Keep it simple. Limit your carbohydrates, while eating a moderate amount of protein, and HEALTHY fats. Create a caloric deficit, not by cutting out all your food, but by adding in exercise. If you're obese you should start by simply walking. Aim for a minimum of 10,000 steps a day and you'll be amazed at how fast your body responds by shedding excess weight. Along with some proper nutrition (cut out all sugar!), you'll be on your way to healthy in no time.

    Hi

I was eventually diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1995 after it had progressed to Myxoedema, I piled on the weight, my hair fell out, my skin was flaking off, my brain was addled and I lost the use of both hands for 7 months. I was told by my GP that I would never lose the weight!

Having tried in vain for many years to lose weight I came across a book called The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy (approx £8 from Amazon). The diet is like no other I have ever tried and means eating three main meals and two snacks a day (recipes included in the book) . You eat all food groups in a specific way and she explains what works and why it works.

I went from size 24 to size 12 in 5 months and lost 4 stones in weight. This has changed my life in so many ways. People don't recognise me and have asked me how I did it so I have told them about the book. I have people ringing me to tell me how thrilled they are with the results. The book is fascinating reading as Haylie Pomroy is animal trained and medical trained and  speaks such sense. The great thing too is that I have maintained the weight loss even though I am not on the diet now but still follow the principals. It certainly worked for me so I am pleased to pass this on to you and hope it does for you too. Wishing you well. Mandy
