How can you wake one morning and feel so 😷

Awaiting to see my rheumatologist to I guess confirm I have Costochondritis. The last five weeks have been a living nightmare. I’ve been admitted to hospital 3 times the fist believing I was having a heart attack. My heart was racing chest pain pins and needles and totally out of breath. The last time I was admitted I felt I couldn’t swallow. I also have a different form of arthritis. Any advice would be much appreciated. Has anyone else had these symptoms of not being able to swallow? Thank you in advance

I haven't had the issues with swallowing but I've had GERD/acid reflux symptoms along with my doc thinking I have an ulcer with mine. The inflammation is starting to ease after several months. I did keep pressing on my chest and ribs to make sure that's where the pain was coming from and I think I made it worse. Also, stress tends to make this condition so much worse. The more stress I felt over my health the worse the pain would be. I definitely noticed a difference after I started to calm down. I also have health anxiety and a lot of issues like that. I haven't had issues with swallowing but I think that's a symptom of fibromyalgia as well. Most think these diseases are closely related.

Hi. I’m sorry for your pain and you’ve been left to manage it on your own that really sucks. I’ve been passed from doctor to doctor and all they say is we don’t really know what’s happening. Only my specialist can confirm this but he’s been away and only works part time hoping he gets round to seeing me soon

I was diagnosed last Jan with Costochondritis when I was admitted to hospital after thinking I was having a heart attack and have been off work since end of Aug as the heavy moving is making symptoms worse I am a continuous care aide. I me waiting for results for an mri that my rheumatologist requested as she said Costochondritis doesn't last that long but from everything I ve read on here people have had it for yrs I find it flares up then calms down again. Good luck with this horrible disease that has many symptoms with it

Yeah I was doing ok for a day or two and now I have pain in the chest wall again and my breasts. I thought I was doing better. I've read about people having this for years and years. Maybe it's linked with other conditions I'm not sure. Where did they do the MRI? Chest?

Hi Donna. I work with adults with severe learning difficulties I work in horticulture it’s like a form of therapy. My job is very stressful and physical. I’m also putting my daughter through university so I really need to work but I can’t see a way forward. I’ve now keep feeling like my left arm doesn’t want to work. I also wish you luck and hope there is some light at the end of this very dark tunnel

      Hi Kim

My mri was done on the chest and on my spine cause I get this burning pain on the right side on bra line. My naturopath has also suggested to try and stay away from gluten as it causes inflammation so she suggested just buying gluten free bread, cereal and see and I do notice it hasn't been as bad lately

HI Donna. Do you think gluten free helps I’ve been reading up on anti inflammatory diets and cutting out gluten was mentioned

    Shelley,

Im also waiting for my appointment with the Rheumatologist re potential Costochondritis.

I too was in hospital thinking I was having a heart attack, this just came out of nowhere, no build up of symptoms at all.

I don't have a problem with swallowing, but I do tend to have this strange felling at the back of my throat.

I was provided beta blockers as my Anxiety was out of this world, couldn't stop thinking it was a problem with my heart, even although tests were coming back clear.

This all started back in October and I'm only beginning to feel slightly better, if I think positive I tend to think this helps, but if I think about the problems I tend to see my problems appear back.

Hopefully we will all get over this and be fine at the end of the day, but right now it seems never ending!

Hi James. Yes I’ve had so many tests with doctors saying my heart is fine I even had an angiogram which was very distressing. At first the doctor told me it looked like unstable angina I was in bits luckily that was ruled out. The scariest thing was losing use of my right arm thought I was having a stroke. Yes you are right we have to stay positive there is so much I still want to do with my life. Thank you for your reply
