How did you injure your ankle and what's your age?

I've been reading posts for a good while now and have found everyone to be so kind, caring, compassionate and helpful. People are really friendly here!
I thought it might be interesting to just give a short sentence or two, on how we got hurt and if you want to, include your age.
I got hurt at a Prince Tribute Skate (roller skating) on May 10th. I had a Closed bimalleolar Fracture of left ankle. I'm 51.

Stepped down off curb and rolled foot and fell while hearing crack at Oakland A's game on 8/14, trimalleoar fracture of right ankle. ER until midnight, surgery scheduled for 8/23, delayed on and put on antibiotics until 8/25. I am 57 years old and have post operative appointment tomorrow 9/6/16. Finding this whole thing to be mindblowing.

Yes. It is extremely overwhelming, to me. And I am the surgical coordinator in a podiatry office!! I do everything except talk to patients after it is all scheduled. And rarely speak to them after the surgery. So I had no idea it was so extensive. Or painful. At least I will now have great advice to give patients. Hang in there!!! They say it gets better. I'm waiting....

Hi Lamborghini Gal...It happens so suddenly & so when you least expect it doesn't it ! I was having the time of my life on the dance floor & all of a sudden I went over on ankle. I felt so embrassed for falling, quickly gathered myself up thinking it was just a sprain. My advice to all my friends has been..please check your tread on your shoes..as perhaps contributes to slips & falls.
All the best to you & your recovery :-)

Hi. I replied about 60 updates ago - 33 yrs old, fractured fibula (unstable, no surgery) 5 weeks in cast, 3 in boot. Should still be in boot but rebelling. Hoping to go back to job next week as a nurse in busy hospital. I am so pleased I can walk on it! I was genuinely worried if I had a job to go back to as I had only been there for 9 weeks and currently in 8th week off. I think a lot of my defiance at using leg has helped me heal quicker. I was supposed to be non weightbaring for at least 6 weeks but didn't last more than 2 days . My fracture was about 5 - 6 cm above base of fibular so maybe that helped. Hearing people lose their jobs is so bad but I just thought I cannot be off till mid October - this fracture and muscles need exercise! Last xray hopefully next weekend x

I am 55 and broke by fibula riding a waverunner in mid July. No surgery, cast for 4 weeks and walking boot for 2, boot removed 2 days shy of 6 weeks, all this time ankle was NWB. Ankle takes a few minutes each day to "warm up" but have resumed workouts except for cardio, now swim and walk, won't try joggin for at least 6 months. Ankle is swollen each evening but wear a sleeve on it during work outs and during the day. Golfed at 8 weeks, score was horrible and ankle was swollen, but I am good with that, just take this slow and stay on even ground!
So glad to be out of the cast and boot!

Gil, I am glad you're out of the case & boot too! That boot (and I know it was for my own good) caused my left ankle to "freeze." I can walk with a limp, and I got hurt May 10th, but that boot is just NOT fun!

Denise, that is terrible, and on your birthday, no less! And you must be a wonderful, sweet person, as you were going to feed some ducks! What luck! I'm glad you're almost back to normal. These injuries sure can cause some frustration and irritation. Thinking of you!

Brom, it sure is a long recovery. But I just look back at my accident day (May 10th) and tell myself, it's been 30 days.......60 days..........90 days........it's been over 100 days! LOL I can't wish you a speedy recovery, because we all know that is not possible with this type of injury, but I can wish you good days ahead! Best of luck to you.

Beesmine, it happens so fast, doesn't it! It did for me. One second I was skating, the next second (little did I know) my life at least for a good while, was about to change. I would love living beside a river. I bet it is so peaceful, not to mention the sound of it.
