What are you taking Lyrica for Debbie?

ive just started on them today. 1x75mg at night for a week then morning and night after the first week. I have nerve pain in my legs and burning soles of my feet, both feet just burn on the bottoms all the time. I'm hoping this tablet will do something. It's not addictive is it? I am 6 weeks post op on shoulder surgery, and have just spent an awful week of withdrawals coming off morphine that I had been on for 3 months. I would hate to go through that again.

I have been on Lyrica for just over 6 weeks, I was prescribed only a 150mg dose for GAD (I also have social anxiety, recurrent depression and bulimia).  Since starting the medication I have been exercising daily, eating no more than 1200kcals and my weight has simply maintained.  I made a post about "weight gain/issues on medication" on a diet forum and was told that "pills don't cause you to gain weight, they have no calories"...I guess the logic is there, but it fails to take into account the fact that I have remained at the weight I was 5 weeks ago despite all the effort to lose.

I see my specialist on Tuesday (the one who prescribed the pills) and I am going to a) ask him for an alternative because sorry but the weight maintenance is enough to make this overweight girl even more depressed and b) tell him that I have already started to reduce my dose down as I don't like the fogginess, the weight problems and the chronic constipation I am suffering.

Am I the only one experiencing this when taking the med prescribed for off-label reasons?

I'm on pregabalin for anxiety and it's changed my life. You can get it in 25mg tablets which is what I have and I'm currently cutting down from 75mg to 50mg a day. Hope having a positive stories helps you.

I'm on 300mg x twice daily of Lyrica and have told my medics that I want off it. It was prescribed for anxiety but I really don't think that's what I had I only had continual thoughts not racing ones and no other symptoms. I've reduced myself over the past few weeks to now to 150mg daily. I never had no side effects going on it and was even up to 400mg daily at one point. But because I don't believe I had anxiety and the weight gain with it also it's got to go.

Hi Debbie, it takes about one week for Lyrica to take full effect on your Brain and Nervous system. After that there can be many unpleasant side effects, and when it is time to wean off the drug, even if you taper slowly over time which is the recommended way,  it can take months to overcome the horrendous withdrawals, and believe me the majority do find them to be horrendous.

I being one of them. I was taking 50mg x 3 per day for two and a half weeks, prescribed for GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder).  When I woke up the last morning and couldn't even get out of bed; I walked as if drunk; staggered all over the place; had double and very distorted vision, and neuropathy had developed in my back/arms/hands/fingers/feet and toes, with extreme fatigue/exhaustion. I went cold turkey because of these horrific side effects, but later found out that I should have tapered off slowly.

It is now 41 days since I quit and the withdrawals are still bad, even for people who have tapered correctly.

On social media there is a group of people numbering up to 5000 who belong to a group called "Lyrica Survivors". Ask the admin to join and then see what all of these people have to say about taking Lyrica at any dose and for any prescribed reason. Most have tapered off Lyrica because of the serious and adverse side effects, but ethese withdrawals are also horrendous lasting for months even after the last dose.

Please be informed before continuing with the drug.

    My very best wishes.

      Chris,

Was one of your withdrawal symptoms stomach cramping and diarrhea? Sorry to be gross, but I'm weaning off Lyrica and wondered if that was related. I was on 150 daily for 6 months and moved to 100 yesterday and today. Felt fine yesterday, but tonight is awful but just with stomach problems. Wanted to go to 50 tomorrow but am thinking that's too quick if these problems are related. Thanks!

      Nancy,

you are tapering much too fast and this causes problems as you have mentioned. To minimize withdrawals it is best to adhere to the 10% water titration method, so you reduce by 10% explained here............

I didn't personally have any stomach cramping or diarrhea tapering from Lyrica. My mistake was to go cold turkey on the advice of my GP, but that was before I knew about tapering about a fortnight later.

I still have WD's now, 15 weeks after cold turkey and they have been horrendous.

Yes those two symptoms happened to me for a duration of 5 days, and a week later are now gone. But I have loss of balance, vision looks like I've tried on somebody else's prescription farsighted glasses. Rib pain now. Anxiety is slowly leaving

I am on it two years, maximum dose of 200mg, down to 100mg in Jan 2017 and cut another 25mg last month, June 2017.

I just wanted to come off it as I was still highly anxious on it and getting panic attacks and read some negative reports about it affecting the synapces of the brain .

The withdrawal from this drug is horrid, had no side effects going on it or during it

I took a total of Three 75 mg Lyrica ,I took one 30 minutes before I took the other two ,which totals the 225 mg of Lyrica which is 75 mg more than the recommended dosage. I feel like I can take this because my tolerance is high, I take pills everyday I will be back on probably about 6 or 7 tonight .to let you all know my experience. If Celt34 could not walk or stand or hold his head up after to 75mg Lyrica I'm anxious to see what three would do I'm currently waiting on the setting I took it about 30 minutes ago so we'll see in about an hour I feel.. You can call me.... Butterfly Beauty.. That's my code name

Let me tell you... I'm 16 and had a terrible experience. It kept me home from school for at least a week and a half. Some @**hole laced my marijuana with pregabalin and I found out a week after. Five days straight I couldn't bring myself to eat anything, until it hurt too much to be hungry, and I ate non-solid foods. I had to go #2 at least five times in under one hour. The doctors diagnosed me with asthma but a week later realized it was not asthma, but instead I was suffering from most every symptom listed as pregabalin (Lyrica) withdrawl. I had thought it was a bad case of flu. I can finally eat solid foods again and now my two main problems that remain are terrible rib inflammation, and sometimes anxiety that is hard to get rid of. Even had scary suicidal thoughts, and I never think like that so I was shocked, and am glad the suicidal thoughts have left. Also lose balance slightly. Anybody know how long it takes for this crap to leave my system completely?
