How do you get relief from the pain

Hi, I have ostearthrits in neck and across top of shoulders due to many years of typing.  I cannot take ibuprofen, the gel is ok, but does not work as well.  I have tried massage, exercise classes, heat pads, cold gels but the pain is just so bad on a daily basis.  I am having the most horrendous headaches.  I was given 3 days worth of diazepam which worked wonders, but after 2 months back to square one.  GP said I cannot take them for longer and I would not want to.  Has anyone else found a way to reduce the pain. I do try to exercise and keep mobile but that seems to make it worse.

In the area I live in I went to a Rhem. specialist and he diagnosis me with Fibro and OA then prescribed me Xanax 3 times a day.  He also said that because I don't have RA there wasn't anything else he could do for me and that my doctor could maintain the OA and Fibro.  He was an ass so while he was out getting paperwork for me I left his office and never returned.  My doctor said they have a lot of complaints about that doctor but we don't have many to choose from unless we want to travel a long distance to one.  My sister does have RA and they still treat her like crap so maybe it's their ego lol

HI, I had the same experience, mine said if you will have your firsyt baby at 39 what do you expect, then left me to be seen by a junior who had to apologise.  I have NEVER been offered anything for my fibro my own GP does not believe it exists.  Xanax is used for depression and made me all weird so I came off of it, it took me 6 months to feel normal again after only taking it for 3 weeks.

Hi Lisa, I have burnt around my neck this week using my heat pad as was in so much pain.  Have ordered some valium, which my GP gives me for 3 days, they seem to do the job for a couple of months.  I am only 57 and am beginning to think I am only going to get worse as I get older.  What joy to look forward to.  Judging by your log in you are in USA.  If not have you tried some of the specialist pillows that you can get in UK, if you are in States maybe they have them too.  Take care
