How do you prepare for Clobetasol application?

Posted , 8 users are following.

I am applying twice per day.  At night I shower or soak in tub, then apply.  My question is how to apply in the morning.  Do I just reapply over the previous night application or do I spray, pat dry, and reapply then.

Hi Judy.  I don't have LS, I have Vaginal Lichen Planus but use the Clob ointment and gel.  The ointment is for me is used on the outer area/opening of my vagina nightly.  The gel I use with a dilator and insert into the vagina.  The one thing my gynecologist says is not to take daily baths.  Showers are ok and to not use soap. She also has me changed to clothes detergent without any perfumes, colors or additives and on an anti-inflammatory diet.  Again, I don't know your specifics but those are mine.  Hope you have some relief!

Thank you.  At first I was taking daily baths but I have stopped so I was glad to her what your gyn told you.  If you don't mind me aking...do you spray in area, ifnso how often?

my clob is an ointment that I apply with my finger.  my clob gel is placed on the end of a dilator and inserted into my vagina and both of these I used every night.

Hi jana do you have LP anywhere else have you ever had a problem with abnormal smears

Yeah, too many baths are counter-productive. Maybe spray so you're applying it to clean skin.

My gynae told me quite enthusiastically that I could and should swim in the clear lakes all arond here. But when I swim I stay in for a long time. I blame this for my perineum being a waterlogged white and a big split it it. I'm taking a rest from swimming for a week or two. I only take showers, too.

my gyn. said the same.  I can swim in salt water pool-which we had to have changed over from a chlorine pool, fresh water like a lake or the ocean.  but not anywhere that chlorine is used...

What about swimming in a pool ?  I'm guessing it would not be good ?

not a chlorinated pool.  there are salt water pools and those are ok!

Yeah, salt water is good. I was in one years ago. The water was diverted to the spa pool from a salt lake.

Oh no ! We have a chlorine pool.  What about if your LS is not flaring, is chlorine ok then?

like I said, mine is vaginal lichen planus...  I know they are similar... but different.  My doc said no chlorine pools.  we had ours changed to salt because what was the point of a pool if I couldn't swim in it...  I would ask your doc!  yours may be different...

For this same reason I don't soak before application any more. Dr. Goldstein puts a lot of stock in it, but a number of women here have had their specialists disagree. I splash squatting over a basin of water with 1 tbsp baking soda every night, including application nights.

Thanks to everyone...I have learned so much on this discussion.

I do take daily baths. When I had the first major flare up in March I was bathing two or even three times per day. No soap though. And always with Epsom salt. I have lichen Planus and when you have a flare up your body weeps. Bathing was a relief and if the clobetsol was going to do any good the bath was necessary. Now I bath only once per day. I am also on an autoimmune diet.

Hi joy,  I am wondering if I may have LP also.   I have redness and tears on inside of labia minora and at opening of vagina. Is that considered the vulva or vagina....may be a dumb question.
