How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Hi:  It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before.  Professionals offer only medications and surgery.  I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years.  After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution.  Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water.  After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer.  Then burp the air out.  Make sure to always do this right before bed.  This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure.  It is the only way to strengthen this muscle.  After nearly 2 years of nexium,  I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux.  I hope you do.  Regards, John

Hi John. Do you know if you had gerd? Or was it simply occasional acid reflux. Any other symptoms like silent reflux? (Postnasal drip, nausea or congestion)? I am Wondering if this will help people with gerd

Hi Crystal:  Yes I did have GERD, along with several other issues like Gastritis, over active acid production, sore throat, and acid aspiration.  I was using antacids for many years and finally was on Nexium for about 2 years.  I believe that my treatments for the GERD resulted in my final diagnosis of diabetes

I would recommend that you do this carbonated water treatment as it is the only way to resolve GERD symptoms without surgery.

You can find my instructions above.  Let me know if you have any questions.  J

Jonathan, what did you mean by "my treatments for the GERD resulted in my final diagnosis of diabetes"? That what you were doing to your body caused the disease, or the extensive testing for treating the symptoms of GERD led to a test to discover you had diabetes? Diabetes runs deep in my family, I was tested recently with a negative outcome, but I want to make sure I'm not doing anything to trigger it!

I don't have any history of diabetes in my family.  When I was suffering with Gastritis and GERD, I would eat too many carbs to put out the fire.  I would have to eat something every hour or so and bread and crackers and frozen waffles were an easy fix.  Also, acid blockers prevent the breakdown of mineral and protein in the food we eat.  My pancreas was being starved to death.  I had no energy to do anything so I asked my doctor for a vitamin and mineral screening.  They then noticed my A1C was 9.2 and blood glucose of 200.  I am now being treated for diabetes and have it down to the 111 area.  I aslo take a cinnamon/ chromium capsule every day and it does wonders to stablize and metabolize glucose.  Give it a try.  I am sure I would not have diabetes if not for the GERD and meds.

I'm sorry that it came to that...I'll try the chromium, since I do eat a lot of cinnamon anyway. I also hear conflicting reports on whether it is good to fast when you have reflux (meaning a meal, several meals, or a full day or more). What are your thoughts, since it would seem that if you don't have food in your stomach to cause reflux, it would limit the acid and relieve symptoms, at least until the next meal?

High, can I ask - I keep reading about silent reflux and postnasal drip, what exactly does this feel like?  Don't know if I have it or not.  Do have throat sensitivity and chest also.  Also sensiitive to chemical smells, like perfume, hair laquer, deodorant etc.  Makes me burn in throat.  Yuk, hate it.  I am finding it much harder to get rid of reflux than when I had gastritis a few years ago.

Thanx or any feedback - appreciated........................G.

Mouth feels and tastes sour. Itchy throat. Burn in throat. Idk about the smells but maybe. You might be vitamin D deficiency. Get that checked out. If not the gastritis may be coming back

Karen, I also have diabetes in my family and am really careful.  I take cinnamon to stabilize blood sugar.

I find fasting really suits my stomach, no pains nor burning anywhere.  But I don't know if this should be done so I am interested in any replies.

      ........G.

I have just bought some raw organic honey as I thought that was supposed to heal the sore areas, I had a little in a glass of warm water and it hurts like mad.  Throat on fire.  You can't win can you.

What makes you say vit D deficiency?  I am open to any comments.  I do take a supplement of calciium, mag and D but only once a day instead of twice.  I drink semi milk daily and have yoghurt  but I drink wine at weekend and I know this can remove calcium from the body - and calcium goes hand in hand with Vit D.  You may have something here - never thought of it, but got to do something, I dread anyone coming to the house with either perfume on or after shave - bit rude to keep them at the door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Thanx...............G.

I read that some people may only have a vit D deficiency. I'm going to get it checked out as well. Seema like the stomach is just backing up acid tho to most people. Try that or get a check up on the stomach again

No more than usual.  Certainly not daily or weekly.  Maybe every couple

of weeks a bout of 8 sneezes in one go - then gone again.  But I have always had that - well for years anyway and thought it was alergy related.

This may be allergy related and just bitter mouth from gastritis or gerd. I notice sour taste but no soar throat. Very confusing..

I did read somewhere that reflux is more common in northern hemispheres and areas that don't get so much sunshine, and that could be due to a deficiency of D. Interesting.

I am in UK (North) and no we don't get much - correct interesting.

Thanks for that.  That is two of you who have said Vit D.

I live in PA where we don't get much sunshine. I have Vit D deficiency and was taking high doses of it. Very interesting to read this. The seltzer water has helped and I'm not having globus anymore and not much reflux. It helped within 10 days. Good luck everyone!
