How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Hi: It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before. Professionals offer only medications and surgery. I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years. After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution. Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water. After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer. Then burp the air out. Make sure to always do this right before bed. This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure. It is the only way to strengthen this muscle. After nearly 2 years of nexium, I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux. I hope you do. Regards, John

Hi John, This has really helped me and no globus anymore. I'm still drinking the fizzy water to keep the strengthening up. I drink it regularly and love it so it's an easy thing to do! Are you from the UK by chance? I started my enjoyment of fizzy water when living in England at an RAF military post in the 1980s and loved living in England.

That is great news! I'm very happy to hear about your improvement. I am in the US, but it seems like people around the world are having these digestive issues. I hope that many other people can benefit from the carbonated water treatment. When I tried to tell my doctor about this treatment, she was not interested to hear about it. That tells me that doctors are not so interested to cure people, because there is not much money to be made when people are cured.
The other day I did a treatment and was able to hold down the burp for over 30 minutes. My sphincter can now hold it down without my conscious effort. This is really a life changing treatment, so spead the word.

Many doctors are not interested but some are. Depends how much they get in kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies. Our Doc & the PA say go online to find other things if you can and try natural meds. Remember, pharmaceuticals don't want to cure anything as they would be out of business!

John,
Would that work for someone with a small sliding HH (about 2 cm)?
It sounds like a dream solution but ...in my mental state, it is so hard to believe this might work.
Do you know what coould be an overall plan of action (all natural) to try to control gerd, heal esophagitis and prevent relapse?
Carbonated water, light exercise, reducing the stress/anxiety/severe depression I have (through a miracle)...and what other interventions?
- Try an osteopath for HH?
- Any specific supplements?
I am taking Omega 3-s, Vit D and melatonin at night..but I don't know what else to do...
These have been the two most horrible months of my life and there is no end in sight.

Sorry to hear that you're going through this. When I was at my worst, I had at least 5 major issues. But, the GERD was the most painful and debilitating. I believe you can conquer these issues. If you do try the carbonated water treatment, I think it would benefit you. It would inflate the stomach and likely slide the diaphram back up into it's proper location. If you could keep this up on a regular basis, the diaphram may reattach above the stomach where it belongs.
If it feels like you get some releif after a treatment, then likely you would be on the right track. If you can do this treatment you will at least strengthen your esophageal sphincter, that alone will provide a lot of relief.
As far as supplements. I know that vitamin D is critical. Also, eating yogurt first thing in the morning will help balance your intestinal bacteria. I make a yogurt smoothie every morning and add some protein powder, milk, probiotic powder and berries in a blender. I would avoid the Omega 3's and oily vitamins before bedtime. They can cause some gas buildup.
You should also be sleeping with your bed inclined 8 inches.
Start out slow with the carbonated water, 3 minute sessions, then slowly work up to longer treatments if there are no issues.
Keep me updated to how you are doing. I do care and want you to get better.

You said the carbonated water might inflate the stomach and push the diaphragm back above the stomach.
This sounds like the opposite of what Drs. Say: don't inflate stomach because it opens up the sphincter even more and contents go up.

Hi there, I have been off and on this site for about 9 months with HH reflux and esophagitis. I was interested in the carbonated water until I mentioned it on here and someone (cant rememer who tho) said not to do it if you have a HH - so I have not. I am hoping who told me will confirm this as I don't want to make things worse.
It is so hard to deal with, do you don't you !!!

Hi Gwen: It was me who recommended that you not do the carbonated water treatment as the treatment was new and I wanted to get more feedback as to whether it would be as helpful to others as it was to me. I now have more feedback that it has indeed helped other people so I am more comfortable to recommend it to a person with HH. It sounds like you are still suffering with GERD symptoms. So, really what do you have to lose. Actually, everyone gets some gas buildup occationally in the stomach and there is no doctor that can stop that.
My cabonated water treatment is just deliberately building up gas pressure in the stomach for the purpose of strengthening the esophageal sphincter. Perhaps, if your sphincter were stronger you could eliminate some of your symptoms and get back to a normal life style.
For many years I had to baby my stomach and not eat foods that would be difficult to digest such as spagetti or cheese or pizza or bread or dairy products. I was gobbling antacids and acid blockers and suffering all the time.
After I was able to strengthen my esophageal sphincter I was able to wean off all acid blockers and antacids. My stomach now makes acid like it is supposed to do and I can eat all of the foods that I used to avoid.
You can try this treatment and in a few days you will know if it causing problems or helping. If you don't ever try it you will never know. J

Forgot to say, my gallbladder is also playing me up. I have a couple of very small polpys which the specialist a few months ago says are too small to do anything with, but I feel a problem starting up in that area. I started doing floor pilates which are quite strenuous and concentrate in that region and since then, it is causing me bother.
Can't do wrong for right with this dam problem.

Slippery elm, 3 x a day
Mastic gum 2 x aday
probiotics 2 x a day
Digestion enzymes with every meal
Digestive enzymes with HCL and pepsin with meat
Fermented foods
Powdered broccoli sprouts
Milk thistle
CUT all high fat foods, onions, tomatoes, coconut products ( except yogurt) most nuts ( which give me IBS symptoms) all gluten ( except on date night once a mth) and all dairy. I have also reduced red meat and stopped bacon.
I do eat healthy anyway, mostly organic and paleo but I had to restrict a lot. I aslo cut dark chocolate and most of my herbal drinks which I now consume over the past week in small amounts.
I have done this for weeks and kept on when reflux stopped and removed the rantidine to 1 then 0.
I am now just on digestive enzymes (both types) and probiotics with every meal. Occasional mastic gum and milk thistle, broccoli sprouts and fermented and stayed fine.
Maybe this might help others?
