How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Hi:  It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before.  Professionals offer only medications and surgery.  I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years.  After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution.  Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water.  After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer.  Then burp the air out.  Make sure to always do this right before bed.  This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure.  It is the only way to strengthen this muscle.  After nearly 2 years of nexium,  I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux.  I hope you do.  Regards, John

    Hello John.

The water has to be orange flavored, or just a regural carbonated mineral water?

    Thanks in advance.

umm cant seem to edit my previous post but i wanted to add; did you develop any kind of pressure near your LES after strenghtening it? to me the best explanation of GERD i have ever seen is that increased stomach pressure from unknown origin (there are many theories) causes it. it explains a lot, even why some people with hernias who should be refluxing do not and only discover they have one by accident. any kind of extra pressure wehter it be from bending, eating, overweight, etc would be enough to cause reflux when combined with the constant unknown pressure. if this theory is correct strenghtening the LES should work but i'd think you'd feel a pressure, but maybe the pressure isnt hard enough.

Nancy there is another condition I just remembered.  It is when there is an irregualrity in the esophageal sphincter tissue.  This can prevent the sphincter from creating a seal.  That would explain why you don't build up any pressure from the carbonated water.  Have you ever had an endoscopy?

Perhaps the stomach does not have nerves that transmit that kind of feeling.  After a person eats a very large meal that stretches their stomach to the max, they usually don't descibe it as pain.  Otherwise they would never overeat.  But, there are lots of nerves in the esophagus.  That's why we feel the burning.

The feeling of pressure can also be caused by gastritis.

You can buy it at any grocery store.  It is usually in the soda pop area.  It is just carbonated water, or seltzer water.  It can be flavored or plain.  The treatment is to drink 10oz and then hold down the burp, start with 5 minutes sessions 5 times a day and work up to 20 minute sessions over a 30 day period.  Then release the burp slowly.   It may be uncomfortable at first, but it should get easier after a week or so.  I hope he tries it. Aslo, he needs to raise the head of the bed 8inches.  You won't really notice it that much.  It can also reduce snoring or apnea.  Send me a private message with all of his symptoms and full history.  John

Hi Jonathan, I think it would be very useful if you could update your post with some information about how many people have told you this has worked, and how many people have told you this has not worked. Also, if possible, it would be useful if you could update this post to encourage people to report how well it worked, rather than just saying they plan to try it. Thanks.

I really appreciate the potential for this method to work, but after reading through almost the entire thread I haven't found a single person who said this also works. Has this worked for anyone else? When I try I feel I don't really need to hold any gas back, rather I just don't let it out, and it just seems to cause some discomfort before dissipating by itself inside me. There's no real build-up or sense of pressure that I feel is working the muscle. Then when I'm done with the five minutes, I just feel really nauseous. Any recommendations on technique? Is this working for people?

Didn't work for me just gave me extreme discomfort followed by either bad wind or my throat hurt because the burps were so ferocious 😂😂😂.

I'm sorry to hear you got some bad side effects.  You may want to start out again very slowly.  Just 3 or 4 oz to start.  It sounds like you have a number of issues your dealing with.  Keep me updated.  John

      Hi johnathan

Thanks for your reply . I've actually started noticing a difference since I've started eating love hearts every day . They have bicarb in them so I think it is probably doing the same thing as the water . I still have the wedge and just take 1 dgl three times a day . I haven't publicised my findings as I am not sure if it is a fluke but the sensation on globus has definitely reduced in the last few months. Saying that I feel a bit bad today as I'm getting a bit stressed with work etc .

What are love hearts? Sorry Claire but I'm new to this discussion.

They are sweets that have a bit of a fizz to them .... I think I may be addicted now 😂

Be careful with how you "put out the fire".  I was using carbs, crackers, bread, ice cream, cereal, chocolate.  And I ended up with diabetes.  Don't go down that road.  And, sorry you have to deal with stress at work.  Some people have had some success with very mild nerve medications.  It can prevent the stomach from reacting to stress.  But I have never tried it.  John

Hi, I hit the ice cream and my cholesterol shot up so I knocked it on the head and it dropped back down.  G.

Hi Claire,  one more question, what is Dgl that you are taking three times per day?
    • Posted

Hi it's deglyserised licourice. You can get it at any health food shop or off Internet. Have a read up on it .. It won't do you any harm to try it .

I'm not sure if Im meant to say the brand I use but the one I use is enzymatic therapy . You have to look at the ratio of extract as too much can be bad for you . It has to be 3:1

I found two that are capsules 750 mg and 385 mg. Then there are several chewables. I'll check out the ratio. Thanks.

My LDL is always too high.  I'm on a statin drug.  I buy the 12 pack of sugar free bars and just have one each day or two.  And I exercise 10 minutes twice a day.  My total was 188, but I'm 5 on a scale of 1 to 5.  Not good. I heard that drinking a 1/4 cup of olive oil each day can balance it out but I have a hard time keeping that up.

    • Posted

That sounds a lot of olive oil - keep you regular I am sure lol

Have you tried Lecethin?  It naturally lowers LDL?

I used to use lecithin long ago.  I think I stopped because of the GMO issue.  But, I will check it out again.  thanks
