How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Hi:  It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before.  Professionals offer only medications and surgery.  I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years.  After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution.  Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water.  After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer.  Then burp the air out.  Make sure to always do this right before bed.  This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure.  It is the only way to strengthen this muscle.  After nearly 2 years of nexium,  I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux.  I hope you do.  Regards, John

Most of us are here because we have a number of issues.  Sometimes they are related.  A weak esophageal sphioncter can cause many other issues, like nasal congestion, sore throat, ear infections, esophagitis, and even reflux asperation which can cause death.  So it is in your best interest to address it.  Immediately start doing this.

      1. Incline your bed at least 8 inches and sleep on a large pillow so you don't roll off of it.  I had an older friend who had GERD and ended up sleeping in a recliner, upright, for years.  He had sugery for it but did not make it out of the hospital.  This condition is very serious.

      2. You have to get your intestinal bacteria balanced.  I recommend organic probiotic yogurt 4 or 5 times a day to start.  One before breakfast and one before bed.  A serving can be just a large tablespoonful.

      3.  Some people get success from going vegan for 2 to 4 months.  This can help the stomach reset itself and reduce acid production.

4.Stay regular.  Minimum of one bowel movement per day.

      5. Do the carbonated water treatment 4 or 5 times a day, start with 4 oz and work up to 10 oz per session.  Holding down the burp starting at 5 minutes and working up to 20 minutes per session over a 2 month period.

      6. Take a multi mineral capsule every day.  And I recommend a separate 5 source 500mg magnesium tablet each day.  I use ultramag.

Always take pills with food and lots of water, chew them first if you can, open capsules to disperse the tiny pills, if possible.

      7. Use those sticky nasal strips every night, they do work.

      8. If you still have problems after this, we can talk CPAP

Keep me updated on your progress.  John

Most large grocery stores now have organic plain probiotic yogurt.  If you want to add fruit, you can add some strawberry jam or some real fruit in a blender to make a smoothie.  Make a large amount and have some every 3 or 4 hours.

John, the fact that your friend died from this is absolutely horrifying! I am so sorry. Was he not treating it and taking action to help himself? That is what scares me the most.. it getting so serious it results in something terrible. I read everything you guys all say since it makes me nervous!

I've tried the Gaviscon tablets and those didn't work for me. A friend says the liquid form is better. Got some today so hopefully it'll be more effective.

I've tried both and find the tablets have a bad taste.  The liquid is much more palatable.

    HI John,

Thanks for sharing this information. I just recently started having some reflux problems. Lately wothiut heartburn. all meds have really not helped. My reflux is not horrible, however avoiding prolonged or worsening problems with this is my goal. I am going right o stop taking meds tomorrow, and give this try. Just drank 10 oz of carbonated water held for @ 5 min. It is weird and hard! Did burp after the 5 min. Assume this is what you do? I like then idea of strengthibg that muscle. Makes total sense! I'm going to do this one more time today and take antacid tonight. TOmorrow will be a better indicator with now removing the poi from my body as well. Been on them for @5 weeks. I sure hope this works!

Ive found a few pieces of ginger in some water boiled into a strong throat hitting drink relaxes me and then the acid reflux etc aren't as bothersome anymore. I use to not be able to sleep some nights when my acid reflux use to kick in. But after sipping ginger water and having ranitidine for a month or 2 I now sip on ginger water when my acid reflux gets really bad and after a few sips all the symptoms disappear no more suffering. Hope it helps someone else too.

It's nice to find treatments that reduce the pain or discomfort of acid reflux, but we also need to address the damage caused by acid reflux or GERD.  I believe that most damage occurs when we are asleep.  Then the next day a person might think that this or that thing is causing acid indigestions and take things like tums to relieve the burning.

But, the constant erosion of the esophagus can cause permanent changes to the tissue of the esophagus and that is what doctors are afraid of and we should be too.

That is why I recommend the carbonated water treatment for strengthening the esophageal sphincter as the best method to stop the damage.

Then there is also the problem of reflux asperation, an entirely different problem caused by GERD.  When any liquid is refluxed while we sleep, a person can inhale that liquid and it can cause breathing to stop.  A person wakes up not breathing and only has a few moments to clear their airway before they pass out.  So for some pe ople GERD becomes a silent killer as they may be pronounced as having died from a heart attack.

And if you try to get off of ppi drugs you can end up with acid revenge.  Constant stomach burning from massive acid release.

Apparently Vegans and vegitarians don't have these excess acid issues.  So that could be another way of getting relief until things heal.

      John

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences and cures.

I wanted to ask if any of you have heard about this connection.  A few months ago I had a flu and my ears got all blocked up.  I went in to see an ENT doctor and he told me to close my nose and build up pressure in my ears, many times a day, as I had fluid built up in the middle ear that was unable to drain.  That did the trick, but what got me was that he said it was also related to acid reflux and told me to sleep on an inclined pillow.  I wasn't able to get any more info from him as to why he thought there was a connection or why he thought that was one of the causes of my ear problem.  Anyone else ever heard of this or have theories?  Thanks!

I'm not sure why he would immediately jump to that conclusion but I would also not discount it as impossible.  Acid reflux can rise up and irritate the nasal tissues mimicking alergy stmptoms.   However the plugged up Eustachian tube could also be caused by a virus or alergy issue.  They can become collapsed but using the pressure method he showed you can reinflate them allowing drainage.

I would recommend a second opinion.

Last week took my usual nighttime supplements right before bed...45 minutes later woke up with wicket heartburn. Took 4 Tums which helped a bit and I could get back to sleep. Next day had horrible burping, back pain-especially after swallowing food...which seemed to subside after a few days. Now I seem to have a slight burning feeling right under middle of ribs (upper abdomen), back pain that seems to be in one spot but then sometimes travels up shoulder or across back and then I'll usually burp. ISeems worse after eating. Have had occassional heartburn but never something that lingered like this. No lump feeling in throat or burning throat. Is this typical of acid reflux/GERD?

Not necessarily.  When you mentioned taking a supplement before bed, that was a red flag.  Some of thses modern day pills and medications are actually causing GERD like symptoms in healthy people.  We all want to have cast iron stomachs but the reality is that it just takes one episode to start a lifetime of stomach problems.

In the future you should take any supplements or medications right in the middle of your last meal of the day.

There is also the danger of a pill getting stuck in the esophaus and burning the tissue.  You must have some food after each pill.

Keep me updated if things get worse.

I kept getting a pain in my back when food was passing through that part of my esophagus right after that terrible bout of heartburn. Now the pain I get is fleeting but seems to be in that same area so I'm wondering if I did damage some tissue and it's healing. And of course the burping is still present but not out of control...I've been chewing on Pepto-Bismol tablets the last few days to see if that helps. My anxiety level has been through the roof for other reasons so I'm sure it's not helping the situation.  I'll keep you posted and thanks for all of your advicesmile
