How I cured my acid reflux, naturally.

Hi: It seems like there are many more people suffering from acid reflux than ever before. Professionals offer only medications and surgery. I have suffered from acid reflux on and off for some 20 years. After much research and meditation on how the esophageal sphincter functions, I discovered a low cost solution. Two or three times a day I drink orange flavored carbonated mineral water. After drinking it, I hold back the burp for 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes longer. Then burp the air out. Make sure to always do this right before bed. This forces the esophageal sphincter to work hard to hold down the increasing air pressure. It is the only way to strengthen this muscle. After nearly 2 years of nexium, I am now completely off acid blockers and only take a sip of water with sodium bicarbonate before bed, just for protrection. Please try this and let me know if you also find relief from acid reflux. I hope you do. Regards, John

Hi John, what is a good digestive aid to try? I've never gone that route. I know this weaning myself from PPIs will be a long process. Thanks.

They don't like us to use names on this forum, so I am limited as to what I can recommend. I will send it in a personal message, that is allowed.
I have had limited success with enzyme supplements. I did find one that has no hydricloric acid, which is important. It can burn. I will send the personal message now. John

I'm down to one 30 mg ppi a day now in the AM. In the evening I take one digestive enzyme and that's about it. I did take a 1/2 tsp on sodium bicarbonate before bed last night. I am thrilled!
Will wean off that last ppi soon now that I have the digestive enzyme. Don't have the d licorice yet and may not do that. I am drinking the fizzy water when I think about it but forget most of the time.
Since I take the ppi in the AM before coffee which is an hour if so before breakfast, when should I take the digestive enzyme?
Seasons greetings 🎄

Wow, you have made a lot of progress! From my own experience, I found that taking the enzyme in the middle of a meal was best. I have found a few more thing that help to heal and protect the stomach. I have a magnesium tablet that I chew and wash down with water, it seems to coat and heal. Also, a teaspoon of olive oil works to coat the esophagus and heal.
Stay the course, you're doing great. John

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am suffering from Gerd since one year. I am on pantoprazole right now. Since 2 months I got my reflux back even though I am on the medication. I didnot go back to the doctor as they will just increase my dosage rather than finding a cure to strengthen my LES. Started doing breathing exercise, still couldnot get any relief. Finally read your post. I started drinking carbonated water to try how it works. Drank 8oz today and immediately I felt I should burp but controlled it. Even after half n hour I couldnot burp even if I tried. Is this normal? Hope this works for me as nothing else is working.

I had the same experience I don't think this works

Some others have mentioned a similar experience. I'm not sure exactly what is the issue, but possibly the air slipped out through your weak esphageal sphincter. Keep doing the treatment. This is the only way to strengthen this muscle. The only other option is surgery. This is why we are here in this forum. An alternative. Keep me posted. John

Thanks Johnathan
I am still doing it everyday. Sometimes I am getting the burp after 20 mins. Let's see what happens, nothing wrong in trying this
Thanks
Ramya.
