How is everyone doing doing on sertraline????

Just wanted to hear people's journeys, advice etc of taking sertraline. I myself have been on 50mg for 5 weeks and 1 day. My side effects lasted for 7-10 days and included loss of appetite, heightened anxiety, tense jaw, fatigue. I'm still not feeling where I want to be but much better than I was. How long did it take other people to feel like the old them??

I know this thread is a year old but I just wanted to reach out. I recently started taking 25 mg sertraline and was wondering how long it takes to work, I take it at night because it makes me tired. I recently had a bad stint with anxiety, usually I bounce back but this time not so much. The hospital treated it as a cardiac thing but I've done an echo and also stress test, came back ok. Cardiologist put me on beta blocker but my bp only gets high when.I'm anxious...I don't know if it's the beta blocke or sertraline making me feel shaky and.sick...this has been a nightmare...my dr also gave me xanax just .25 but I don't wabt to get into habit of taking make sense??

Just came across this thread very helpful reading other people's experiences. I was on citalopram about 2 years ago I was really anxious back then especially at work. I wouldn't go to the kitchen to get a drink I'd put any rubbish I had in my bag so I didn't have to walk across the office and I'd eat my lunch out of my handbag so people couldn't see. Sounds so stupid now thinking about it. I stayed on citalopram for about a year and then came off cos I just didn't like the idea of taking them to make me happy. Unfortunately the past year I've gone back down hill again and been severely depressed and very anxious and irritable. Yesterday I finally plucked up the courage to go to the doctors and decided to try something new (sertraline) I've had 2 tablets so far and this morning woke up feeling unbelievably tired, my head feels like it's being crushed, I feel really spaced out and my jaw is very tense. I've read about people gaining weight with this too..please tell me that's not going to happen cos I'm literally on the borderline of being fat Also will my side effects get worse?

Hi Tamsin . . . . i came off Mirtazapine because it made me put weight on, I've lost weight since starting Sertraline, my appetite has returned to normal and my anxiety has decreased tremendously to the point where people are now saying how well I look. It did take a while, for the first few days (I'm now at 6 weeks) I felt as though my head would explode, it felt really busy and I couldn't sleep very well at all, but now I'm pleased to say that things are really looking up . . . I hope this drug works for you and you find some relief from your symptoms - what dosage are you on? I started at 50 mg then went to 100 mg after a month but reduced back to 50 after only a week as I felt too spaced out.

Ah great that sounds hopeful then I'm on 50mg I'm thinking about taking them at night before I go to bed so I don't feel so horrible during the day cos I don't think I'll be able to cope at work feeling like this..luckily I had the day off today.

Hi Tamsin, sorry to take so long to get back to you, I couldn't log in to my account for some reason. Please stay in touch and let us know how you progress, for me the insomnia was the big issue but I switched to taking it in a morning and by evening I'm ok to sleep reasonably well. Really hoping all goes well for you x
