How is everyone doing doing on sertraline????

Just wanted to hear people's journeys, advice etc of taking sertraline. I myself have been on 50mg for 5 weeks and 1 day. My side effects lasted for 7-10 days and included loss of appetite, heightened anxiety, tense jaw, fatigue. I'm still not feeling where I want to be but much better than I was. How long did it take other people to feel like the old them??

I have just started taking sertaline (50mg) after suffering with GAD for a long time (about 10 years).
My symptoms were all pretty standard (in the leaflet)
- feeling restless and on edge constantly
- tiring easily however struggling to sleep at night / hard to fall asleep
-mind going blank often
- being irritable alot of the time
It is best according to my doctor to take the dose in the morning and it is normal to feel slightly worse for a week or 2 so please keep that in mind when you start a course.
I would say I have quite a severe case of GAD however no suicidal thoughts. I will let you know how i progress and hopefully some people will benefit from this thread.
Best of luck to everybody suffering with this. It can be horrible but just remember its all an illusion and now that you are taking something, it WILL be better with time.
Neal.

I've been on 50mg for 20 days now. I can tell my anxiety is getting better. My doctor wants to up my dose to 100mg but I'm fearful of the side effects again. Just like you said, we have to remember that it's our body getting used to the medicine and that the benefit in the end will be worth it! I'm trying to start my day everyday with a positive thought as soon as I wake up and then continue it but when my anxiety creeps up its hard to do that. Having everyone on here to communicate with definitely helps in those tough moments. I hope today is a better day for you!
