I still feel light headed dizzy after a week off.  I took it for 4 months 500 to 600 mg per day. This drug is weird and should be look at more closley.  What do you all think. will withdrawals go away eventually?

Rick, I have been in the middle of a hellish nightmare since January this year when I missed one dose of Gaba and my life has been in the toilet ever since.

gabbapentin takes approximately 36-38.5 hours to clear out of your system from the last dose taken

Hello!! I recently had brain surgery and was put on gaba 2 weeks after my surgery. Took 300mg 4 times a day for 9.5 days. The two weeks after my surgery I had energy. Then was put on this medicine to help with nerve pain in my head. I stopped taking it 9.5 days after and am having similar withdraw symptoms. What did the ER doctor say when you went in?

the emerg doc said the pill is out of your system in 2 days if you are immune compromised or have liver problems maybe longer but the side effects can stay on.......here i am a month after taking 4 pills and still sick!

Please do not just go off the meds..you will have bigger problems as this med is an epeleptic seizure medication...they use for pain....and can cause some problems for you...you really need to see your doctor when you are ready to come off it and come off it as slowly as you can and i mean slow like take months or a year to taper off it as it does affect your brain chemistry...type in here coming off gambepentin and you will get lost of results and suggestions. hopefully your doctor knows best..but i have seen some real horror stories here about docs just cutting people off.....and taperiing them down too fast...the slower the better...

I am hopeful that the withdrawal symptoms will subside, but it may take one month for each month you took the medication. At least that's my experience. I was on gabapentin for 7 months discontinued taking it February of this year still experiencing some side effects of withdrawal but they are improving. Good luck

i took 100 mg once a day for 4 days got really sick and stopped and have been sick ever since (been almost a month now) headache face swelling sore throat and bad tummy....feels like its enlarged and hurts or spasms. my gasto said this drug affects your central nervous system..and you have nerves also in your esophagus and tummy and they seem to be affected and you are drug sensative so might take a while to clear your system...freaking me out add that to the fibro pain and sore aching shoulder i have...its too much now they want me to take cymbalta...which i dont know that i want to start when i read the side effects of coming off that...think i need to come off this first.....so i know what i am reacting to if i take cymbalta...4 pills..that was it for me and still sick after taking it for 4 days...! we should start a class action lawsuit..they did on cymbalta....

You should talk with your Doctor regarding withdrawal symptoms.

i did he has no answers....he is beginning to think i am crazy.....! says when i feel better he wants to try me on cymbalta for my fibromyalgia.......and i should see a physichiatrist now to help me deal with the way i am feeling as there is no med to fix this....it will just take time...i will go see the physciatrist just so i can get my frustration out..!!! maybe she has some suggestions for alternate meds for my fibro as when i look up the options of amytriptiline or cymbalta i get a bit freaked out these will make me worse than i am now..

going to see a neurologist next month...maybe he has some ideas as well

my doc gives up...take the meds or take nothing !

I would look into alternative ways of healing. They take time, but they do work. I am working with a Naturopath who is helping me with supplements and anti-inflammatory foods. I also pray, meditate and exercise. The endorphins help me sleep. I am in Los Angeles. I am beginning to use CBD oil, and I am noticing a slight difference in my pain intensity (I've only been on it for a week.) Another medication is only going to take you down the same road. I understand the desire to want to have a pill fix everything. I am 4 years in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. I am also a 2-time kidney transplant patient. But over time, more medications just harm our bodies more. Take control of your healing to the best of your ability. It will take time. It is a long process healing from these medications. I've been off Gabapentin for 2 and a half months and Is till have ear-ringing, itching and burning of the skin and do not have my normal appetite. It has slowly gotten better, though. Fight for your health! Western medicine does not have the answer to everything!
