I still feel light headed dizzy after a week off. I took it for 4 months 500 to 600 mg per day. This drug is weird and should be look at more closley. What do you all think. will withdrawals go away eventually?

I have noticed that when docs don't think you are not doing well enough on a given dose......they up the dose again thinking it will help even after you have adverse effects on the present dose? More is NOT BETTER ! Does not make sense. This shows ignorance by many MD's on any given effect by a medication. When you go do an internet search on any and all drugs.....they all have adverse side effects....especially a high dose (a high dose may be toxic at different levels for different people !) You know how you are feeling....the doc does not. He's not taking it like you are.....any ways I'm getting off base abit........I have alot of expireinece with Gabapentin having taken a dose of 900 to 1200 mg/daily for 4 years. I am off of it now for 2 months straight now.....I feel good and believe I am now back to "normal" again and have my life back.......I had taken me more than 4 months to finally get off of it...........I did a very very slow tapering off and the last 2 weeks was down to 25 mg/day....and then finally 25 mg/ every 2 or 3 days.....then NONE.........you can get back your life Pam......Yes I did have some withdrawal symptoms like you describe.....but with my gradual taper, I was able to handle it well with no major problems........Now I am just fine and I believe all my cognitive abilities are good.......I and "feel" a complete change now..........good luck to you.....Jim B.

It's been since July for me and though I feel better for most part my body still has issues caused by GABA. My ears are continuously dealing with fluids and crackling . I have sensitivities to foods I never had issues with before and have days on end where I don't want to go anywhere.
It's like my immune system is under seige or something
Kind of weird. I have to push myself to go

I could not possibly make it through this without my faith in God and nonstop help of the healer at the sanctuary where I went to detox for the first 10 when I began tappering off. I also deal with excessive amounts fo mucous secretion, from my nose, my eyes and drainage down my throat. I was taking 1200mg of Guifeneisen, but now just taking 1 tablet of Benadry every 4 hours and it helps with relaxation and rest just a little bit too. The ringing in the ears is still tremendous (but I had tinnitus before this, just not to this extent). I go to sleep with progressive Christian music and prayers, sleep about 3 hours wake up burning up, but feet freezing, blood pressure I have to constantly monitor because it just keeps dropping even though some of what I am experiencing makes me feel like it is higher. Not just kind of weird. Absolutely maddening. I am going to my PCP today for a follow up and more advise. I am so glad she is my PCP because she believes in medical as well as chinese style herbal treatments. I don't want to go anywhere because I cannot stop talking and when I do, I am argumentative and loud! I know I offend people and hate it.

I was wondering if you could tell me. What kind of digestive issues? Stomach pain?, nausea, diarhea ? etc........I've had some too but don't know if it is related to gaba.

Stomach upset, little nausea, bloating, this doesn't happen daily and not as bad as when I first got off Gabby. Just annoying!

Interesting......I've had all off those symptoms since discontinueing gaba. as well as some stomach pain too. It could be co-incidental though.....but I have also used ibuproflen and excedrin alot over the last few years which can also cause gastric and bowel problems...........it's just difficult to know.......alot of things can cause those problems..........but it is well know that most medications do cause digestive problem.....that we do know.....good luck to us !

I am sorry Just saw this...I hope your feeling better..I think it takes the same amount of time your were on it to feel better when your off..It took me 5 or 6 months to feel completely better I was on it for 4 months 600mg per day..I still feel dizzy but it most likely is coming for my neck problem and vertigo. I hope your feeling better by now..

Naomi, Thanks. But, if you are correct I probably won't make it. I was on Gabapentin for 8 months, but Prozac for 30 years. I am not feeling better and see a Grimm future if I hang around.
