How long for 100mg sertraline to kick in?!

Posted , 7 users are following.

Me again! I've been on & off 50mg sertraline with limited success, could not take the depression any longer so now on my 12th day of 100mg sertraline. I'm feeling zero improvement, very weepy & having suicidal thoughts.

Can anyone advise as to how long I should stick this out?

Thank you!!!

The power of positive thinking......................................let's say day 16 is your day to remember an improvement and then day 20 is success day. There will be blips but keep going.

Hi Lotty, it takes up to 2 months to start to see improvements but the side effects should slowly start to get better as your body gets used to the new med. I don’t know what you are taking it for, but this med helps first with anxiety and panic attacks and OCD and takes longer to help with depression. First you will notice your appetite improving. The fact that you’re experiencing side effects is a good sign that this med will work for you. Take care. Stay strong, but be gentle with yourself. It will get better. XX
