How long until citalopram leaves your system?

Hi, can you shed some light please?
I was on 10mg citalopram for roughly 3 months roughly but was taken off it due to serious side effects and allergic reaction. I weeks off completely around 5 weeks ago now and have been feeling pretty good and back to normal up until yesterday when I started to feel quite dizzy/nausea and body weakness. Is this the usual or should I not have any side effects now? Dr said allow 4-6 weeks but has anyone had these feelings for longer and have they come on after a few weeks of feeling good? Thanks in advance

How long did it take for the withdrawal efftect to wear off?
I'm asking as Ive been off citalopram for nearly four month, I stopped taking them due to horrendous side effects off them, mainly toward anxiety. I never really suffered with anxiety but was suffering with depression, anxiety and heart palpitations from taking diet pills leading me to think I had problems suddenly.
Anyways the doctor has now prescribed fluoxetine to help with my anxiey/OCD (which I never had before) and I'm so s*** scared of taking another antidepressant. Anyways... I need to know whether it's to do with the citalopram or if it's me. ( I know your not a doctor ) but i want to know whether I should just ride it out before trying again.
Sorry for the long post 😂

I started citlopram last year July and I’m on my 5th day free from them. They helped but just like yourself I had side effects. They last 3-4 weeks into taking them, my anxiety was through the roof and panic was always there, feeling so fearful. My doctor gave me diazepam to take 2mg twice or 2 times but did say she wouldn’t recommend that for long as you can get addicted but just to get you through the symptoms. Long story short the citlopram did sort me out and now it’s my time to be free of them.Â
My doctor also recommended CBT through MIND and it did help.Â
Remember you are not alone and things will get better. Watch YouTube CBT and also AMSR helped.
Peace and love T x
