When the staples were removed, so 14 days after surgery - both for the THR and for the revision 10 weeks afterwards.

    Best wishes

    Hi Kel,

I had dissolveable stitches and had my dressing changed quite a few times over 4 weeks, I only had dressing on for 4 weeks because my knicker line would catch on one of the scar and they didnt want anything to inflame it they told me, healed lovely though. 16 months on it's barely noticeable xx

Here in queensland, instruction were to attend local GP to get dressings redone at 10 days, post discharge, which the Dr's nurse did, after he inspected cut.

I had a very strong and thick shrink wrap like material, post surgery, waterproof, over gauze dressing underneath, feeling of being held tight by the shrink wrap as it clung to your skin, clear so you could see if it was weeping.

Then back again 7 days later, where just replaced with very light gauze, and again told come back in 7 days.

    Dressings taken off completly.

I had disolving stitches so never had to get anything taken out, except for first visit to GP, one stitch in leg still remained, nurse pulled out.

By 24 days 7 + 7 + 10, and I was back in local heated pool with GP's permission to do my post surgery exercises, cut healed over completly.

Wonderful, Physio agrees I am very strong for someone who has had double hip, 3 times a week for a start, now twice a week if possible.

My incision is long,I do have a good history of incisional healing and the self desolving type of sutures.I think since he used that type of suture he wanted the sutures to stay dry.It is healing well.Today is day 19,which is the no# of days I was post op when my 1st hip when the femur fractured. We drove up into the mountains today. We live in the Rocky Mountain chain. Compare to EU it's an ant hill I'm in love with the way they look after it snows, like someone sprinkled them with powdered sugar.2 of 3 of my girls went with their sweet hearts. They brought our Grandson sledding.I stayed in the car but did not care because I enjoyed the athletic beauty.I wish I could send pictures. We went to my mothers with our Grandson too.Im breaking the Day 19 curse, not my femur
