How much is too much activity?

I'm almost 2 weeks post having all 3 repaired, how much up & about is too much? I'm pottering around the house a bit making coffee, warming up food for the toddler & baby, sorting washing & bits & pieces. Hubby is always telling me to stop & go lay down!! Mostly got the jist that It's the heavy lifting/pushing/pulling that can be bad for the repair not just being on my feet? I do take plenty of rest breaks & lay down & things get a little sore, but it's just sore? Or am I risking my repair?

Also, how the hell do you get out of bed or a recliner couch without feeling like you're exerting too much pressure!? Does no heavy lifting include myself!? Such a pain to get up & ouch!!

Roll onto your side, push upper body up as you lower your feet. You can see you tube videos demonstrating this by Michelle Kenway. She is an Australian physio that has a lot of advice available for women with prolapse and for recovering after the op.

Roll on my side using your bum muscles and push up with arms not stomach.

I bought a grabber stick which was a God send. I could pick up my socks of floor workout bending lol. Things we have to do but it helped me pick up light things. Bending is a no no for first 6 wks by the wayxx

My sister offered me her grabber stick but I have a toddler that loves to follow me everywhere & loves feeling helpful so she picks everything up for me haha & my older girl puts on my socks & things (how great is it having kids!! I knew all that hard work would pay off eventually 😆wink going to try this rolling over to get up 👍

Sorry hun but I th I k its way to early to be doing things like that.

It's the first 6 weeks that is so important to the success of your surgery.

Being on your feet is just as bad.

I had tvh and anterior 13 wks ago and it's only last 2 wks I washed a dish.. I know it's hard with young ones but doing washing is a no no.

Try and relax with feet up when you canxx

It is so hard doing nothing!! It is my biggest struggle in this recovery!! Im not bending or stretching or lifting anything heavier than a kettle as per advisement of my doc though, and only wander around I don't even really walk. But I'm desperate to have this surgery work after having the prolapse for 8 months!! I don't want to be back there!!

Good hun, I'm glad your doing well.

It's lovely to have young ones to help with the little ,they feel like grown ups😀😀

Keep up the good work... Only a month ish to go then you can gently do a little more.

6 weeks is an understatemant from the surgeons,it's takes up to 12 wks for strong scar tissue to form.. Just have this in your head and you will be fine😘😘

I had a my first post op visit yesterday - 8 days after surgery. I specifically asked about returning to work since I work retail which is constantly on your feet. He said walking and on my feet is fine !! But the return to work note specifically says not to lift more than 10 pounds. (Weight not Money-lol). All the stitches are dissolving - and expect better bladder/bowel function as the days pass.

    * Complete repair (front/back/top/bottom)

I think being on your feet for extended periods is not a good idea.

We are all different and you may be fine but I’m 8 weeks on, similar but not the same surgery as many people on here and I get really achy if I’m on my feet too long. I do have mild scoliosis so it maybe because if that but I don’t remember getting as achy as this before.

I asked for light duties to be put on my fit note and my manager still put me supporting a very active (autistic) student on a day when he’s out and about for several hours!

Tbf when I pointed out this wasn’t light duties he changed me!

Oh wow how could they think that was light duties!? Glad that they changed you!!

Was this after the first 6 weeks? Or in general? So much different advice!

Consultant told me standing is just as bad in the early weeks.. Gravity causes swelling in the tissues that need healing.

It goes to show they say different things. I've taken it upon myself to be more cautious and use my head lo l. It's a scary recovery that's for sure. You are very brave going back to work hun, hope you recover well.x

Just after 8 weeks but I’ve been told to take it easy, and not to do the equivalent of “running for the bus”  for 12 weeks so I’m other words don’t go out of  comfort zone, due to possible injury to pelvic floor.
