    Hi Shirley,

i feel your pain, I'm new to fibromyalgia and I find symptoms adding up on a daily basis, my newest one is lack of co-ordination. I'm bumping into things left right and centre and that fact that I'm already in pain just makes it worse, I'm black and blue from all my collisions.

i can't tell you if it gets better or worse, as I don't know this myself, but I'm sure now that you have found this forum there will be plenty of advice for you.

im sorry I couldn't help you but I'm sending a hug your way, to help in the only way I can xxx

Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad.  Is it just Fybromyalgia causing this or do you have other problems?  I have only just been told I have now developed the Fybromyalgia after years of problems with spondylosis in my spine and neck and fall 5 years ago which caused shoulder problems.  Mt partner does nearly all house work because if I do something which irritates my shoulder it takes days to recover. Recently the pain has been spreading but it is the chronic tiredness which I find the worst thing.  I have been given amitripyline on top of my usual strong pain relief which means a better nights sleep.  I haven't been as tired but early days and I'm not too happy about the side effects with more meds. Has your doctor given you anything to help you.

I did find my pain relief was making the pain bear and until these extra probs.  I have morphine patches paracetamol and tramadol but I really hate this new thing with the Fybromyalgia it feels like it's taking over my life.  I worry if it will get worse because as yet I do manage to do a couple of hours of something during the day.  When I was really bad a few wks ago I struggled to hold my head up and could have easily just stayed in bed.

your decribing a flare up . which is been brought on by something.

you have to rest up for awhile then start again ,and pace your self do a little each day.  dont listen to others . i know its frustrating but the harder you push yourself the worst your get.

just be very thankful which i am sure you are that you have a careing daughter and husband . many of us on here havent anybody .that dosent mean its any less frustrating or painful .i know . but take solace that you have people around you that care. tian x

I am on my 3rd day of a bad hit after trying to do a little weight training and i am still in bed today everything hurts today.

I am new to this as well so I don't have any advice but I will say it seems that there is quite a lot of people struggling with FM so hopefully someone somewhere is in a lab trying to find a cure or at least something that will help

Sorry Graham but I highly recommend leaving the weights along.  You need to see if it's the weights which are agrivating it too much.  If it's the weights you may have to make a choice.  Can't quite picture many Fibro sufferes who can weight train. Good luck but be sensible

Sounds like you may have developed ME/CFS as well as the Fibro (same as me).  There are drugs designed to help coping with ME/CFS.  Try having a google search on it and then talk to you doctor. Good luck

I know - the worse thing you can do is compare it to what you could do before.  5kg will feel like 50kg on some days don't forget gravity and the affect it has on Fibro suffers.  I do suggest backing off completely for a while.  Then introducing 2kg and then working up if the Fibro will let you. Fibro is hard physically, mentally and emotionally.

Thanks for the tips Julie I am struggling to come to terms with this as I used to be able to lift 60+ kg air conditioning units above my head so as you might imagine this has happend suddenly it has just knocked me so hard

Yeh big time.  I just worked out that 5kg is the weight of one of my cats (big house cat - he's big boned bless him).  The difference I think is that lift him straight to my chest and only do it the once. Then only about 3/4 times over the whole day.

I think the weight problem is the distance lifting from your body & whether above the shoulder and the number of repetitions you do.  I can often do things once maybe twice but hitting the 3rd time immediately (no way).

If you have developed Fibro recently it might be worth you doing as the professionals often recommending and completely resting.  It might take you upto 2 years they say (I know sounds like forever).  However if you do it you might fully recover.  That would defenantly be worth it - big time! I'm a long time sufferer who didn't rest cos I was dignosed 20 years after I developed it.  They have told me it won't go completely now I've had it too long.

If I could reverse time and rest tons from when I first developed it - 2 even 3 years would be nothing on my now 22yrs.

      Good Luck

I was on my hands and knee's and 30 repetitions for each arm to my chest, and did it 4 times in one day I think I am now on day 5 since I did the lifts and the pain is now calming down.

It is the most frustrated I have ever felt and bearing in mind that I have broken bones in my back twice before and had to go through the recovery phase.

The difference this time is that I have little in the way of goals at the minute as all I hear is that there is no cure. Maybe after the CBT course I will have a better understanding and be in a position to re-focus.
