How to cull my toenails!

Posted , 12 users are following.

I am now 6 months post LTHR and can do almost anything but the “fly in the ointment”, is cutting my toe nails on operated side. I do have long legs (inside leg measurement is 34 inches) and gave rise to my childhood nickname of “Dolly long legs”! 😱

During the past few months I have become a contortionist but to no avail, left toenails remain elusive. Any hints and tips as to how other hippies manage this once simple task gratefully received. Have a good weekend everyone, for me it is the Belgium Grand Prix 🏁 so a happy bunny. Dot X

You could make appt with a podiatrist and they would cut your toe nails for you, you could ask at local surgery and they will give you a phone no of one local to you

Hi Marilyn, I have been going to a podiatrist but my nails grow so fast and need cutting at least once a week so I am desperate to do it myself, I have no problem with the right foot so its costly to go every week.

There are several long handled toe nail clippers on amazon which might just give you the extra reach you need.

Have you been told not to go past 90 degrees hip bend? I do  at 4 months to do my toe nails.

I go beyond the 90 degree now as I am 3.5 months since my hip op and I don't have any problems with bending its crouching and kneeling that I have problems with and standing longer than 15 minutes in one go, I am waiting to have the other hip done hopefully in nov/dec I do use nail flippers and I can tie shoe laces and put on socks no problem

Good luck for the other hip! Glad you found a way to cut those toe nails. I can't kneel either but that's not because of my hips.

I got my nails cut via podiatrist monthly, free, after asking at my GP surgery about it. In UK.

    Hi dot

I sell long handled chiropody scissors in my mobility shop. You can buy them on line or from any mobility shop.

    Hope you manage

    Take care

Yes Dot I have long clippers, they were £5 on Amazon good quality, and give me the extra reach I need.

    You can try this.

Lay on your bed on your back, drag your heel up towards your butt.

Now you can reach those toes.

Do it layig down instead of standing up or sitting down.

This is also how I put on shoes & socks. However I am a barefoot type of girl & didn't wear them much. Even months later I would put socks and shoes on this way, it was just so much easier.
