How to cull my toenails!

Posted , 12 users are following.

I am now 6 months post LTHR and can do almost anything but the “fly in the ointment”, is cutting my toe nails on operated side. I do have long legs (inside leg measurement is 34 inches) and gave rise to my childhood nickname of “Dolly long legs”! 😱

During the past few months I have become a contortionist but to no avail, left toenails remain elusive. Any hints and tips as to how other hippies manage this once simple task gratefully received. Have a good weekend everyone, for me it is the Belgium Grand Prix 🏁 so a happy bunny. Dot X

I did laugh at your post title - culling toenails! I also am an advocate of dragging the foot up the bed although the baby toe remained a bit elusive for a little while. When I saw my consultant last week (at 7 weeks post op) he said there was nothing wrong in pulling the foot up towards your bum and letting the knee fall out to the side a little to tackle the toes although doing the opposite (knee inwards and foot twisting out to side) was completely illegal!

Oh, and my partner has also had a crash course in painting my toenails - one must keep the standards up - hahah.

    Hi

I'm on 2 crutches permanently, 2 THR's etc so no way can I get to my feet to cut my nails.  The GP organised appointment with a podiatrist....Just for nail cutting ....nothing else.  The appointments are far apart and I just try to file at them even if its only one or 2 a day in between times

      HiMichael

You can get them done free under the NHS if you ask your GP to refer you

At nearly 8 weeks I can't get near feet yet even with jodi France tip about lying in bed. But I too have become a contortionist. To get cream on my op foot I put it on my non op foot and use that foot as a hand. I remember watching a programme about a girl who was born without hands and marvelled about how she could use her feet. I feel so blessed to have the use of my limbs even if I have a temporary dysfunction.

Please do not cull your toenails♥♥♥
