Hi, im 3 weeks TAH tomorrow, felt really good this morning , I have had a shower, washed a few small pans, put some clothes away in the wardrobe and hung 3 items out on the washing line....... I now feel like have ran a marathon, having quite a bit of internal vaginal pain........ Please all tell me these simple tasks will get easier........I know the 3 months off work is a  long way off but I can't imagine feeling well again!!!

did you have abdominal operation.if you did be very careful we all may feel like doing things but you dont know what is going on inside you. or maybe you had keyhole surgery ,i think that is a bit different. i know that after only 2 weeks in with my operation i couldnt even dry myself from the waist down ,hubby had to help and i am a very independant person ,but just couldnt be done with the wound i had. hope you carry on doing well.

I was discharged today with the strict instruction not to do anything much for six weeks.  I know it's going to drive me crazy, but the nurse who discharged me told me that a prolapse is very likely if I don't.  I want to heal, so I'm taking the advice, so I would leave the Hoover alone for a couple more weeks if I were you. Xx

If you do too much you will know about it! I am 4 weeks post op and the rule I have really stuck to is no hoovering, no lifting , no carrying shopping and no ironing. Even though I can do some lighter jobs, if I do too much I am shattered. If I stand for too long my abdominals start complaining!  I have 2 young children and from week 3 I had to start doing more as hubby at work . They were coming home from school and needing dinner etc, help with homework and poor hubby running around doing loads in evening like loading washing machine, taking rubbish out, cleaning out the guinea pigs, lol!   It has been hard work but I try and pace myself. Do some light housework, then sit , do some admin or order shopping online, have a walk , then feet up read and rest til kids come home. But no heavy stuff. I have a manual job and know I won't be back for some time. I can't even start to do any heavier stuff for another 2 weeks and then I will still have to build up to doing a full days work. Take it easy. For me it was such a big thing to go through and took military planning with hubby, family , cover for kids and lifts to school , that I feel I cannot risk undoing all the surgery, not going through that again!  Take time out, it takes a while for your body to heal. I had read it takes 6 months to get 80% of your recovery and a full year to get 100%.

i followed hospitals instructions,at my 6 week check up after total abdominal hysterectomy. i was only allowed to hoove after the 6 weeks if the hoover wasnt heavy and i had no stairs to hoover. i asked about work and because of the bending i have to do was told could go back after 14 weeks but still no bending or twisting my body. was told it takes 1 year to 18 months for insides to heal fully and have to be very careful till then. i went back to work (sitting on a till ) this week amended duties. and couldnt believe that after only 4 hours my tummy felt as though it was constricted. i believe it was due to sitting in same position ,am ok now but anyone thinking about going back to work please check before you go. although i have been bored since the operation i am determined to follow instructions so i dont have to go back in for doing something against orders. i would listen to your body and oonly do what you can do with no niggles of pains or aches anywhere. i was told and this may not be the same for everyone, that i was cut inside in 4 layers and each layer has to mend slowly hence the amount of time it takes. i now and again get what feels like little electric shocks/ stinging  in my tummy and have been assured that is normal it is your nerves knitting back together, well hope that monologue helps somewhat. all the best enjoy your enforced rest period

Wow reading these makes me thankful I'm not the only one who will basically go crazy not cleaning! Getting a hysterectomy in a week due to fibroids and endometriosis nauseas for the past 4 months almost everyday has been hard! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself the whole time! Doc said at least 6 weeks out of work so I'm thinking I hate TV lol thinking of lots of crafting to decorate kids rooms! 3 year old and 4... my son turns 3 the day I have my surgery and it's breaking my heart to not be with him sad
