hysteropexy, posterior repair, Enterocele, rectocele

Hi all,
I'm desperate for some advice please. I'm 38, and had a hysteropexy, enterocele, & rectocele 4 weeks ago. I have one child born 6 years ago, although not a large weight apparently I had a traumatic birth which caused a fair bit of damage. Sadly my old doctors did nothing when I went & complained of various pains etc. After changing doctors 5 years later, my new doctor realised immediately what the problem was & set the ball rolling with a consultant. After seeing one consultant she had to refer me to a more specialist consultant so I had to wait a little longer in which time my situation got a lot worse so much so that something was protruding out of my vagina. My consultant is lovely & she diagnosed my problems immediately & she advised me that I needed an operation. I have a check up at the end of the month & appreciate I will have a lot of swelling but wondered if it should still feel like I have a prolapse? To be honest I feel pretty good, no pain other than slight discomfort & a little back pain. It's so hard with a little one & a husband who works very long hours not to do anything. Whilst I haven't driven yet & am trying not to lift to much I am doing somethings like making dinner & washing up etc.
Thank you in advance x

I can't believe how lucky I've been, 6 nearly 7 weeks post op & I feel pretty amazing. Doing more and more each day but trying to remember not to lift to much & sit down every now and again. My little girl is enjoying some more mummy time rather than me standing doing jobs. Thinking of all you ladies & wishing you all successful surgery & healing etc xx

That is good news Nit but take things slowly. I know 7 weeks is quite a while since your surgery but you still have to be cautious and it's good to rest when you can. It's lovely you are enjoying time with your little girl. Precious times x

Good to hear, that's gone fast. Please don't lift you don't want to undo the work. Have the incision sites healed? That's something I don't have.
Can I ask when your discharge stopped? No colour to mine now but quite a lot watery and getting sore wearing pads all time.
Back to work today 19 days post op. I sit down all day so no issues. Think me ferritin has crashed after op and period as bad eczema, anxiety etc. Not impressed. I really need endometrial ablation but can usually cope taking drugs but after op could only take the mefenamic acid.

Hi Helen
My discharge stopped about a week ago, after antibiotics as I had an infection sadly. As that went I got a urine infection so needed more antibiotics but different ones to fight that infection. All good now & feeling so much better. The incision sites have healed loads, thankfully. Unfortunately I'm very sore when I wipe, very cracked/cut skin between my bits but other than that all is good x

Oh no you've been through the mill a bit with two infections! You are sounding positive despite this.
I am awaiting results from consultant last week, suspect urine infection but not vaginal. I seem to have less bladder control this week

I didn't know with the infection, I'd actually gone to the doctors as I was in a lot of pain especially when sitting. My doctor did a swab that got sent off to the hospital & it confirmed an infection. With the urine infection I knew as I needed a wee constantly but with very little fluid each time.

Hi ladies, I hope you're all recovering well. I had been feeling pretty amazing until 7 weeks post op & am now feeling a little deflated. Got that dragging type sensation & fullness type feeling. I wake up in pain when I need a wee & it hurts when emptying my bladder. My flow is very slow first thing too. I have been back to my doctors a couple of times as also had various infections. This Friday my doctor did another examination & found I had what she described as a bulge in my front wall from my bladder, she said it may be normal & basically told me not to overthink things but then followed it up with you may need another operation in six months!!! As I'm sure you can imagine I left there very confused & still concerned. I rang back later that morning & asked for her to ring me back. When she phoned back I asked her if she could at least refer me for physio which she agreed was a good idea. So now I have to wait. I'm now 9 weeks post op, anyone else has similar feelings?

Hi I think I if I remember correctly you had the same surgeon as me in mk about a week after me? I'm sorry to hear about your bladder, did you have anterior or posterior repair? My recovery isn't going very successful either - was discharged at 6 weeks even though I told her I still felt like I had a prolapse but it felt further back, she referred me to physio which I had at 9 weeks and spoke at length with physio and I said I would go back to gp with concerns. GP referred me to a local colorectal surgeon and he examined me and said I have at least a small rectocele, I had surgery for a rectoenterocele so it either didn't work or has failed and I've not done anything to risk recovery even still off work
Colorectal surgeon wants me to see a colorectal surgeon that specialises in pelvic floor disorder as he said the reasons why haven't been addressed. Let me know how your physio goes, good luck x

Oh no Donna, I'm so sorry to hear things haven't gone according to plan. How devastating. I still feel six weeks to get discharged is far to early. I've had to go to my doctors about four times. All my surgery seems to have gone well I believe thankfully. My bladder went back when my uterus was lifted so didn't need actual surgery as such thankfully. However I phoned to ask about seeing her privately & her secretary made me an appointment thorough the NHS bless her. Fingers crossed it's nothing. I hope you soon get some good news xx

My doctor and the colorectal specialist told me I should go back and see surgeon and speak to her but what could be done? The physio can refer me back to her but I don't see her for another four weeks as I've yet to tell her how I got on with the colorectal appointment. Are you see the urogynae again or doing physio before?

Got to wait for physio as my doctor is only just about to refer me for it, could be months apparently. I really like Miss Pezeshki so I'm hoping she'll reassure me. I'm happy to go back to her and see what she says. I'll keep you posted, please let me know how you get on x

Sorry to jump in, I had hysterpexy, and “ vaginal repair” 18 days ago.
I am still sooo tired, and have what feels like constant period pain, it’s really getting me down.
Only signed off work for 6 weeks which was minimum I was told to expect (6-8 weeks) but have Doc appointment just before sick note runs out as I expect to get longer.
I also have under active thyroid, back pain from mild scoliosis, I’m going thru menopause and sole carer of two including a child with severe autism.
My job is hands on too, supporting young adults with autism in the community.
I was advised I couldn’t “run for a bus” for at least 12 weeks.
When can I expect to feel better and well enough to go to work-not that I’m in a rush!
