I amazed

Hi, I bought a gel that I saw advertised on TV. It was advertised as relief for tired, sore, heavy and aching legs. It is called Loiton and its herbal. It's supposed to cool and sooth, take away pain, swelling and redness.

Well, it does all that. But the most amazing thing it does is, it has almost disappeared my scar!

Its not got anything about scars on the box. But my scar is now flat and smooth and pale.

I put it on after exercising and it's like icing without the ice. The cool feel doesn't last as long as ice, but it's nice.

    Hi Caz

i looked to see if anywhere in the UK sells it ...but I can only order it off line  which is such a shame

I've just been searching - in the UK it is only available as Hirudoid gel and, it seems, only with a prescription judging by Lloyds pharmacy. I'm not sure about the law - in many countries it is illegal to buy things over the internet that are restricted in the country of receipt.

But even with herbal stuff, it is generally a good idea to check with your doctor that it is OK alongside the prescription drugs you are taking. This gel has heparin-like content that stops the blood clotting so much - it may not be suitable to use if you are on warfarin or another anticoagulant.

I just looked on eBay, it's the same blue and white box.

It says For external use only. Do not use on broken skin or round the eye. Do not use on children under 3 years old.

Oh, it says it's made in Italy.

The regulations differ from country to country and the UK is sometimes pretty restrictive! You can buy prednisolone over the counter in Spain, and antibiotics still I think. Here in Italy I need a prescription to get vitamin D tablets - which I buy in industrial quantities from H&B when we are back. Same with antihistamines - prescription here, Lidl is wonderful in the UK!

Yes, it is the sort of thing I'd expect to find alongside Deep Heat and stuff!

Hi EileenH, I know, I used to be a medical artist in London. I produced the training manuals on many drugs.

Australia is very strict too. I do find it strange as Loiton is made in Italy.

    Hi Caz,

If you find anything that makes varicose veins disappear, let me know! ( ha, ha just kidding)

My veins have always been unsightly but they seem to have gotten worse after my TKR for some reason.

I'm not ready for more surgery though and having to wear compression stockings, etc. I've tried injections but they only work on the small spider veins.

Hope you are feeling better today Caz. BTW I know several people who have raised their grandchildren. There is a special place in "the after life" ( or whatever one believes) for people like you!

Take care lovely woman, Betty PS I'm so jealous that your husband cooks!

I'm jealous too of Caz's husband cooking ...mine can make a cup of tea and do cheese on toast. But that's  it

we lived off microwave meals when I first got out of hospital ..thank goodness I  lost my appetite..... The ping of the microwave makes me shudder ....lol

Betty - one of the indications on Lioton is "varicose veins of the lower extremities" (there are some sorts of varicose veins I WOULDN'T use it for but legs are fine).

My husband manages a decent bacon/ham, egg and chips. In the UK he managed for himself if I was away but far preferred the chip shop. Here he just heads for the pizzeria for a Wienerschnitzel!

Caz - where in Australia are you?

Horse chestnut - either in pills or lotion will help. Doesn't make them disappear, but certainly reduces them - or at least, did for me. Doesn't happen overnight though, takes a good month to see any results.

Really? Even on the bulging varicose veins? Never heard of it. Where do you purchase it?

      Thanks!

      Hi Betty,

So sorry to hear about your veins. I count myself very lucky not to have them.

The connection between my grandson, Jonathon and I is very strong. It makes my husband laugh as nomatter where he is he always texts me goodnight every night.

I'm in the US and I buy it online. Most of the herbal supplement people sell it. Even Amazon has it. The capsules I have are Solaray 400 mg, and the lotion is Planetary Herbals Horse Chestnut cream. Apparently there are many formulas popular in Germany.

Oh and yes, my veins buldge, and still do, but not nearly as much, and it has reduced the little spider veins quite a bit.

Have you tried ebay Joan? That's where I ordered mine from

      I'm in the UK

      Jean

pit cost me just under £10 for the gel and £3 shipping

Joan, dont know ifcyo saw my previous post but there is a place near Salt lake city that carries some of that line. Not the gel but a cream for pain. With freight its around $15. Has some interesting ingredients but definitely not the same or even close to it as the gel. They have a cream for migraines, pregnant women's tummies, excema and all sorts of bath salts and body relaxing bath stuff. All made by the same mfg. Google loiton and look for the Utah address. I think I'll a order a jar tomorrow and give it to myself for Christmas.

I did see your post OFG but I was trying to find one with the same ingredients that Caz posted. Seems like there are several different formulas depending on what country it's coming from. I found another on eBay from Australia that had $9 shipping which seemed more reasonable than $55 but I'm waiting to hear back from them with a full list of ingredients.

I can only assume that one or more ingredients are either banned or controlled in the US. The Aloe and vit E would be healing agents in the cream but not sure where the pain abatement would come from. I'm wondering if the Australian company would be allowed to ship to the US if indeed there is a taboo ingredient. They can only tell you no or worst case, it would be stopped by local authorities at US customs and you could lose your purchase price, I seriously doubt that you would wind up with a porch full of feds.....but on the other hand you never know with this department of justice Good luck

The one Caz listed does not have aloe and vit E - and another one I found was only heparin (that was from Bulgaria). Too bad they can't come up with defferent names for different formulas.

I suppose different things are accepted in each country. The US is very picky about certain items they don't have working knowledge of and are lienient on many things other countries control. Makes it difficult for manufactures to do business globally, especially in the health caare field. People suffering need relief and generally don't care.
