I can't take it anymore!! Perimenopause horrible..HELP!

I am 48 years old, stay at home mom with two children.  They are in school, I try to keep myself very busy.  I have had OCD and anxiety, I have been fighting it for years. But, now the Perimenopause is really terrible..depressed, mood swings, tension headaches, dry and itchy skin.

I have spoken to my sisters who are all past Menopause, they tell me their stories but I just cannot believe that hormones can cause all this havock.  I do not feel myself at all, my PMS is worse and the week of my period I actually feel like I have a disease and I am dying.  Feel like I am going crazy!! Please tell me if this is normal to feel this way at this time, because I am obsessing and cannot get my mind off of it.  Need Help!!!!

I have jjst joined because of this thread. I feel like I am dying most of the time. I am at the end of my tether and feel so ill and like I am going crazy. I am 47 and this all started 3 years ago. It started with a headaches for a few months and then I got vertigo and dizziness. I now have crushing fatigue, very foggy vision and head, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, itching all over, aching muscles, twitching muscles, tingling hands and feet anxiety and I feel quite down.

My periods have got lighter, last less time and my cycle is shorter, but my PMS symptoms are off the chart and I have period pains about 10 days before my periods and very sore breasts as well.

All my blood work is normal, I had an MRI and CT of my head that was normal and have had a normal mammogram.

I eat healthily, don't have caffeine, drink lots of water and am not sure what supplements would help. Is all this normal? I have spent a lot of today in bed feeling dreadful.

Hey Sally, they say my blood tests are normal, but I had a saliva test done and my doctor told me it was off the charts so it couldn't be a normal test. It had to be wrong. I have headaches, horrible anxiety, nausea and the jitters get so bad I can't sit still. When I have to go to the doctor my anxiety gets so bad I get dizzy. Other than that I'm at home. I'm a few days from being 46. My mom started at 40. My periods are about 3 days and I still ovulate and what's funny is my ovulation seems to last longer. The pain from it is horrible.

Have you considered HRT or birth control pill to stabilise your hormones? Another poster mentioned it. I can't take bc as I get bad migraine and I had varicose veins stripped as early as in my 20s, even so I'm considering it, it's supposed to help with symptoms which is great but it can help skin and figure, esp breasts, look youthful.

Is there anyone on here who came out other end of this verrrrrrry looooong tunnel, who feels great after menopause? I find new health problems and wrinkles, every week.

Hi Sally are you feeling any better? Have you tried anything like Vit B complex supplements? A tea made of a spoon marjoram in boiled water can help me on those feeling dreadful days. Starflower oil is working a bit at the moment. But it's all change, one minute I swear something works, a few weeks later I've different symptoms. At the moment all my back, hip, thumb feel creaky and sore and kidneys feel tender. So back to Doc again soon as I can sad

I have been told that I can't take hormones because of migraines.

I am a bit better but still feel dreadful. I will try the marjoram in boiled water. I have tried B vitamins but they didn't help. I will get some starflower oil. That's my issue as well. Last year I felt that things I was trying were helping, but this year I am doing exactly the same things and they're not!

      Sally,

I'm 46 and anxiety and depression runs in my family and I've been on Paxil for almost 16 years and anti anxiety medication for 10. Well, back in July of 2015 I woke up one morning and I had a constant anxiety attack and couldn't sit still. Pacing the floors. I thought I was going crazy. Well my medication I figured had stopped working and I tried to get off of it and I can't. I had just gone down 20mg a few months earlier. My life is miserable. I have the jitters and heart palpitations so bad I can't sit still. I've never been like this.

      Tonia,

I have always had anxiety but have been able to control it. It runs in my family as well. I had a massive panic attack in 2013 and was begging to be put in hospital. I managed to work my way through it but I am so anxious, stressed and exhausted. I have heart palpitations as well. I have pretty much been stuck in the house for the last three years. I have never been like this either and it is ruining my life and my family as well.

Sounds like it is th eanti-anxiety medication, My medication was klonopin(clonazepam) it stopped working and all hell broke loose. Be careful, never just stop taking it even though you think it stopped working, and taper slowly if you are goimg off. Withdrawal from this drug is just like symptoms of perimenopause.

I was feeling the same way this morning, googled it and your message came up. I think knowing that this is normal helps get through.

Hi I was wondering the age group of everyone? I'm 38 and am experiencing most if not all the symptoms. Drs are of no help with this.

      Hi April43417

I'm 49 but started palpitations and night sweats at 39, flooding periods at 40 and then shorter intervals between periods, I'm still having them. Now I've less night sweats and red faced flashes/palpitations & fatigue but getting joint pain. My mother said she went through menopause at 56!!! It took 4 yrs she estimates. So I've been 10 yrs already with horrible perimenopause symptons, still have periods and FSH is only around 8. I hope this won't go on until I'm 56!
