this thread is bringing me so much comfort, ive had suspected perimenopause symptons for about 8 months now. im 45 it all started with crippling migraines, aching joints, itchy sink, weird taste in mouth, heart palpatations, exhaustion so bad i can hardly get up the stairs! the latest is bloating & running to the loo 3/4 times a day with a burning pain in my lower abdomen. today its my 6th day either being in bed or lying on the sofa feeling useless (very difficult with 3 kids) had bloods done & an mri which were both fine, going back to the docs weds for more bloods & an internal examination. i still get a period which lasts about half a day then just dark discharge for about a day after. the health anxiety im getting is absolutely horrendous the complete terror or doom that im dying is unbearable, trying to stay strong but its so hard right now. does anyone else feel almost normal for about 2 weeks then get totally floored for 2 weeks at a time?

Yes! That happens to me alot! I'll be miserable for a good long time, feeling like I'm going to faint, waking up terrified, having dry heaves and gagging, crying uncontrollably, and then suddenly one morning, I wake up feeling almost normal. For a while, I feel like I have a handle on things, and then the downward spiral starts again. I call it "the cyclical roller coaster."

    hi everyone,

i'm really struggling at the moment I seem to have another symptom everyday, I have been phoning the nurse every week with different symptoms. I literally feel like I am dying, I have no energy, nausea, palpataions, itchy skin, tummy pains, dry mouth and now have a weird eye pain, its like a prickly pain. I can't cope , just keep breaking down.

I also have itchy ears. Does anyone else have these symptoms, I feel so alone 

Dear Lisa, I'm so sorry you are struggling. Please know you are not alone!! I don't know your age but perimenopause and menopause cause a laundry list of physical and mental systems. Dryness in the body, heart palpitations, stomach problems, low energy, etc. to name a few. And the feeling that you're breaking down physically and mentally. I understand. There are ways to get through this. HRT and digestive enzymes has helped me the most. As well as a breathing practice called Ujjayi. Hang on in there, keep asking for help, keep reaching out to others and reading forums. We can help one another. There are many sources now for us than ever. X

Worst thing I've ever gone through. Started this a decade ago now I'm 49 and the real "fun" stuff has picked up speed. The recent add ons of insomnia/fragmented sleep, feeling hot then cold, and energy crashes on top of everything else has really dragged me under. A holistic practitioner is helping me but some times I'm just ready to increase the anti depressant and get a prescription for a sleep aid! Feel I can't even function normally in society just want to be left alone! It does comfort me knowing all of you are dealing with this madness too.

I'm really sorry to hear this Shan49. I know how bad it can get... Good for you for finding an holistic practitioner to work with. That was pro active so give yourself a pat on the back!! Really. Sometimes when feeling so awful and if it's been going on a long time, it's hard to do anything at all. Diet, exercise, supplements, etc were definitely helpful for me, but in the end the only thing that really made the most impact was HRT. Once I got a good dose of hormones in my body I finally slept! Also my brain lit up, like I could actually think again. And it was the only thing that made me not swear my whole way through the day. HRT's not been pefect for me, at all, and it can be another journey in itself finding the right kind/dose, but it allowed me to function again!

Hi Emerelda, actually I am using HRT. Not prescribed but bioidentical and easily acquired through the internet. I use a progesterone spray and an estriol cream. The estriol I'm only using half the dose. Guess because I'm still having periods. Last year my practitioner put me on the estriol and that was before the sleep issues and night sweats began. Could be I've had more overall estrogen decline since then. The latest thing I'm working on is small meditations of deep breathing and looking at restorative yoga. I bought a neat fan on Amazon called a camera fan. It's going to help me a lot. I live in Texas and the heat is on which isn't helping the hot flushes!

Hi again Shan49, That sounds good! I didn't realise you could get biodientical estrogen online without prescription, unless it's a really low dose? I knew there were lots of progesterone choices but never estrogen. I might look into that in case my latest regime doesn't work anymore. A camera fan sounds interesting. That sounds like you're being looked at while having a hot flush. Lol! You mentioned restorative yoga. I teach a style called Svaroopa. It's a gentle but deep and a unique style of restorative yoga that's excellent for healing the spine and quieting the mind. With all the online classes going you may want to look it up and give one a go. I teach from England so the time zone might not work for you. At the moment I do an advanced class but I might do a beginners class if you are interested could put you on my list. Take good care. : )

Yes I get progesterone and estriol online. Amazon carries both of them. The camera fan is simply a handheld fan it's just shaped like a camera or a phone. My practitioner found a YouTube yoga teacher that does Yin Yoga. One of my main problems is fatigue and muscle issues so I'm just doing a pose or two. I've found it a little difficult because the poses are held so long. However found another one from the same teacher that has poses I can do. I'll definitely look up the type of yoga you teach thank you!! Before I started having adrenal issues and hormone imbalance in my late 30's I was a die hard runner and road biker plus lifted weights. Now I have to stick with Pilates and yoga which really I do like! My energy issues are just the hardest thing to deal with!
