I'm so glad I've discovered this site. I'm 58 and have for the last six months or so been experiencing such fatigue it's really interfering with my life. It has coincided with the pandemic which has really fudged things. I've been treated for anxiety which has been heightened by Covid, but I can see there's a correlation with my symptoms and being post-menopausal for three years. Only recently did one doctor mention that fatigue could be the menopause-up to that point it had been assumed I had post-viral fatigue because I had a cold (not Covid) in March!! Others on the forum describe having aches and pains all over the body and a feeling of having bruised ribs on the left side (weird) both of which I have. Also, a daily feeling of just being off and like I'm not in my own body, and having low energy. I have to pace myself on walks, sitting down more often which leaves me paranoid that I have a heart problem! It's all so miserable. I don't get hot flushes though. I'm taking more Vitamin D at the moment and have picked up HRT patches which I will start using but a little wary of the likely side effects e.g. nausea, bloating etc. Can anyone here relate?

I am reading this thread and thanking God there are hundreds of you going through exactly what I am as well, and yes I do feel like I am dying, I am 48 years old 2 years into perimenopause and I hope it's over soon. I'm still having my periods although they are down to three days.some are very light and almost non-existent and some are very heavy the whole 3days. I think I've had every symptom you can have, I'm currently experiencing the flu-like symptoms- dizziness dehydration upset stomach, teeth hurt my sinuses hurt every joint and muscle hurts, insomnia excessive gas &bloat, moodiness & let's not forget the wonderful weight gain! you name it I got it! it seems like every month a new symptom occurs that comes out of left field and just adds to the pile that are already on board. if things don't ease up I'm going to see if I can get on HRT. it's just comforting to know that I am not the only one. how is everyone else coping? nothing I tried seems to help...

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum but thought i would add to it. I am soon to be 50 (few weeks), and have been missing periods for some time now. It has been confirmed through a blood test that i am perimenopausal, but have had 2 different Cancers (Kidney and Tongue) since the age of 43.

Recent scans from my follow up appointments have been all clear.

I have always had terrible symptoms through my cycle but just recently i have felt so ill. About 2 weeks ago i started to develop a sore/dry throat and chest felt heavy, almost as if i was coming down with the flu. (I actually thought i had covid)! No fever or cold at all! 2 weeks on and sore throat on one side is still there and gland on the same side just under my chin is tender. Went to my GP today who has said he cannot find anything wrong.

Can this really be the side effects of menopause? Has anybody else had the same symptoms with the throat and chest. Today i also have a headache, neck and back pain, severe nausea and ligh headedness. I have had 3 children and feel like i'm in the first few months of pregnancy, so sick!

I am petrified that the Cancer has returned as symptoms are so severe, but test say different. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Excuse me whilst i just randomly cry...

    Thank you 😃

I feel the same. It started 2 years ago with headaches and side pain my liver. Had bloods done a fibroscan and liver tests all clear. Then my stomach turned, heartburn, trapped wind, indigestion and severe bloating. Finally had an endoscopy after pushing my DR. My periods have always been heavy but now they are even more heavier. I've seen a gyno and had polyps removed due to spotting between periods. Had my ovaries checked all fine. My iron has always been low so I've upped my iron intake due to heavier period. Now I'm experiencing nausea to the point I cont go out as I want to vomit in restaurants. Its like pregnancy morning sickness with a headache. I feel so sluggish and my hands are numb, major fog brain, night sweats and just feel so miserable. I have regular iron tests due to heavy periods. Had my thyroid check too and hormones too.

Thank you for replying I feel so low and all my friends look at me with disbelief!

The DR is sending me for bloods as my period is still going on. Its day 9 and I'm still spotting. I had my ovaries checked and had two polyps removed as well as scans! All clear.

How are your periods? Mines have always been heavy but now they are longer.

you aren't alone with all these horrible symptoms. I wouldn't wish this on anyone and it makes my anxiety sky rocket. I had an ablasion back in May as my periods were so heavy and i have only had one very light period since. My periods could last for 2 weeks at a time prior to the ablasion. I feel for you i know how draining all this is

thank you. I was reading up on ablasion as I'm desperate now as I was about to pass out with my heavy periods. I cont do this anymore. I would never consider the coil either especially with all my peri symptoms!

How are your periods since the ablasion? How did you ask your DR to get it done? As my scan showed everything was normal in April.

    hi Kim

how are you doing? I've had peri for 3 years now but its got worse. feel very unsteady when I walk, my legs feel heavy and horrible nausea like morning sickness/travel sickness. I've got a throbbing headache and now lack of sleep as well as increased anxiety. I've only now come to terms with my acid reflux stomach all clear after and endoscopy. Now this I cont even run of the treadmill as I feel so fanit!

how are you managing your symptoms? I've had my bloods done waiting for results all hormonal etc

I don't know wether I can believe if all my strange symptoms are due to peri. I have bowel issues (sweating, shortness of breath, shaking and tachycardia before, during and after pooping), a strange kind of stiffness in my body and like an internal shakiness, I sometimes feel wobbly when I walk and other than all that I have a new symptom every day. The only thing that makes me think it might be hormonal is that the day before my period is the only day I ever feel "normal", if it was not for this I would be convinced I have some very nasty disease, which I do think I have 99% of the time.

I live in fear and anxiety and feel awful. I'm on the verge of giving up a job that I have just started and really wanted. Oh yes, I'm just shy of 48 and my periods are all over the place, nothing for 4 months then every 16-17 days for a few months, then nothing again...

So sorry for the ramble, feel like I'm losing my mind and body 😦

I have many of the same symptoms and also feel like I have gone nuts:( I keep telling myself it will get better and keep searching for answers but some days are much harder than others! Hang in there..we will get through this!

You have described my symptoms 100%. I never know if I'm going to make it through the work day. Had to come home sick on Friday. It's Monday, and I'm on vacation, but if it were a workday, I'd have to leave. Feel like death. Try to hang in there. I'll try to do the same. xo

Thank God for this thread, when I'm afraid I'm going to drop dead I come here to read through the posts and it makes me sad that we are all going through this, but less afraid and less alone. Take care x
