    hello Kim,

sweetie i know exactly what you are going through, i am in the same place you are. Same feelings, sick, anxious, sore, lonely, as if im being judged as a nutter. People say think positive, or you cant be feeling that bad! Words cant describe just how our bodies feel. I take vitamins, eat well, very little caffiene, no sodas. Filtered water, no booze damn it! I try and go out for walks, still volunteer at a charity shop. I keep smiling, practice mindfullness, enjoy nature, my pets. But its a hard road! Reading stories here have given me a little bit of hope, we travel this road together, we are not alone. This shall pass, you are strong you are a woman! I am woman hear me roar!

Now its a different world of sick! Last night i woke up feeling like i was passing out, how can this be if im asleep? Very. weird and scary. 11 days on BHRT.

Yes you get used to the feeling and you will recognize the warning

signs then you won't feel so panicky. I was the same, but now I

know what is coming, I just curse and wait for it to pass.

It is not nice but you can't really do anything else.??

      Well Carol,

this all gets me through. I dont know if I have said on this thread

but I cannot take anything because of high bp, so I am doing it

all on my own, all be it trial and error. I call myself a phenomenon!

      (My husband says "yeh"wink😂

Mostbof the time I feel like I have got a virus and had a couple

of bad bouts of tonsilitis this year, so not pleasant.

I am looking forward to more comments and remedies from all you

Ladies in the future, it is good stuff!

Oh and I was going to make a point, sidetracked again, yeh passing

out thing strange but I have definitely had something similar, stopped

lying on my back if possible (Sometimes I do it involuntary) it has

happened two or three times and I woke up lying on my back. Also

found it hard to wake up. Very scary episodes indeed.

Really hope you are feeling good again soon.??

Hi Carol.... Exactly my point... You are doing everything " right " according to the experts.... and still look at how bad it is... It doesn't make sense at all.... Where the hell are the hormone specialists???? We can send people to the moon etc.... and in this day and age we have no proper remedies, treatments... for this.... Crazy....

    • Edited

      Hi Streak,

You SO RIGHT ..... we’re sending people to the moon.   Our Engineering capabilities are amazing.   But chemically, pharmacologically, we are in the Middle Ages.   Doctors have no idea to help with these issues, no idea how to deal with stomach issues .  You can’t blame them ...... medicine isn’t advanced enough.

So agree! This is what I keep saying ! Why oh why is there not a sure fix for this ???? A pill we could take that would actually work .... FAST !!!

    Hi Kim,

Trust me you are not alone, on Friday even my 5 year old daughter told me that I was too old and dying and that's why I couldn't look after her!  I am 48 been peri menopausal a few years now, and have just had second blood test results confirming that I am cusp full menopause.

I can live with the disturbed nights, the irratibility, feeling cold and hot, night sweats, but it's the hormonal migraines that I can't cope with, always with vomiting, neck stiffness and behind one eye. They are becoming more frequent and the latest one I had vertigo with (this is the one where I couldn't look after my 5 year old daughter).

I had a long chat with a duty doctor who has said that I need to book in to see my regular GP (told him I don't have one), he said continuity is important with migraine treatment. I'm afraid of taking HRT, but am desperate so will try anything to feel in control of these debilitating migraine attacks.

Have you tried mindfulness and meditation, these are helpful and so is yoga and pilates? Essential oils are good with no known side effects.  Finding time for yourself isn't always easy depending on your commitments, but trying to get some joy and relaxation in life must be a priority when we are battling our flutuating hormones!

Take care I wish you all the best on your journey

kelsa, don't put up with the terrible migraines.  I had them for four years and they increased to having two a month.  I was not told it was hormonal and I even suggested that it was to doctors and they dismissed it.  But, proven right, they are now gone - replaced with other symptoms but no migraine these days.  If I'd been better advised, I know now that progesterone treatment would have helped at the time.  I know now that progesterone is low in early peri and oestrogen without the same level of progesterone causes the migraine.  Get them to give you some.   I suffered with these and just told to use over-the-counter meds but these hormonal migraines are very severe and you need hormone help.  wish i'd gotten it!

Thank God mammogram came back normal...but I was so anxious!!!!

And everytime i get anxious i get that fast heartbeat going on!!!

Trying to come down and not to think bad things but is not working!! Do you experience up and downs in heartbeat?

Oh yes...and usually hot flash and tingling with it. I hope your brother gets okay. Thank goodness for the good mammogram! 3 hours is a long way. It's good you got your results back right away. Is it always that fast?

I've been going to them for a long time.

You might have to wait an extra half hour but its great..

Yesterday was horrible again feeling nervous and anxious and was seating there and i can feel my heart beat raising! My husband and son got upset with me ....my son going to medical school and he thinks it's a side effect of Zycam I took it a week ago I thought I was getting the flu , he said that if I took to much zync it does that. It's been over a week it would of been out of my system by now!! I'm stressed tired and just wanna be left alone!!

About 2 months ago my period had stopped for 3 months and i felt great. Since it came back its been hell again..

      How are you feeling?

Hey Marie. Thank you for asking. I would bet the heart racing is something to do with peri anxiety. You did give me some hope by saying you felt great for 3 months. I hope I do that. Most days I just feel exhausted and feel like I dont get much done. It's distressing when i think about the older women in my life who were always cooking and cleaning and doing volunteer stuff. I wonder if they went through this!?

    • Posted

You are so right, i was thinking the same...I grew up in Greece and i remember my mother working out on the fields a nd going through all this...

Those 3 months without a period were great. No health anxiety my skin looked better no pains, no bad moodssmile

How long are you going through this?

    • Edited

A little over 2 years now. I wonder if it has anything to do with all the chemicals and stuff we are exposed to now that causes it to be so bad? I sure hope this health anxiety goes with the periods. I dont want to live like this. Maybe a brain transplant!
    • Edited

Hi I wonder too about the older generation and how different it was for them? It had to be different to now because it doesn't make sense how they could have carried on in harder times, less medical help etc... and it can't be down to them " getting on with it" because when your this unwell no matter how strong you are, its impossible to function... so I think it must be food, chemicals and God knows what else.... I don't know... is causing this debilitating illness... It can't be ' a normal part of life' because its getting worse and worse for women? Why with all the modern medical breakthroughs is this not being properly addressed and treated? Why the suffering in this day and age? To those who say we're all "different".... We're all women... we all have the same hormones... since the beginning of time I guess so why is it so hard to find better treatments or put a stop to this life change being so horrendous... this can't be " normal"... No way... Where is the medical help, research, breakthroughs in this area?? I can't take much more? There must be millions like me?

2 days ago felt great i got up cleaned my house went for a walk did my shopping and by night time i was so sick and anxious with upper back pain and heart burn. i went to my dr the next day, he suggested to have blood work done to check my pancreas and stomach..I went home scared again for all the tests will follow. A few hours later the pain was gone!!  it's all hormonal..

my family doesn't want to hear it anymore so i turn to this site and to you ladies and your support.

      Hello Maria,

Let me start out saying it will get better. When I was in my teens I had irregular periods. Some would last for 1 month, the shortest would be on for 14 days. Then nothing for 6months. At age 37 I started to get regular periods after the birth of my son. I had pain as if I was in labor, very bad pain with clots of blood streaming out. Tampax nothing of the sort could handle the flow. One day I thought about getting some depends. I used the depends along with toilet tissue. It helped a little. Keep in mind I would end of changing every fifteen minutes or less. Making a move was miserable. I could be sitting and fell the BIG CLOTS gushing out. I am now 57 years old and it just stopped bleeding 2 months ago.

Maria, on my last period I was so out of it. I was in awe feed up with being drained. I bled so much I became a anemic. I asked The Most High to make the bleeding stop and he did. But let me tell you, God has a sense oh humor. He stopped the bleeding and gave me.

Hot and Cold Flashes , Anxiety, Shortness of breath, Rapid Heart Beats, Sex is a memory, Aches all over my body, Moody, Sleepless Nights.

Sometimes when I'm asleep I wake up as if I'm dying, it's as though my breath is being sucked out of me, and I'd scream no, and wake up and scared to go back to sleep. Sometimes when I close my eyes they feel as though they don't want to reopen. (Scary)

Two months ago I got this weird feeling in my head. I'll try to explain how it felt.

I was standing out side all of a sudden it felt as though my skull, or brain had turned. I was so scared I didn't know what to do. Has anyone else felt that awkward feeling?

Just remember when you ask God for relief make sure you be very Pacific.

Such as no more clots. I should have also asked for no menopause symptoms as well.

      It does get better.

      ?m so sorry Marjorie!

I do pray all the time for these all to end soon, 8 years its a long time..

My mom had her period till she was 55 i hope tha won't be the case with me. I feel so sick the week before my period the week of my period and the week after ..that leaves me a few days to feel a bit better and here we go again. My poor husband scared to talk to me anymore ..the other day he says you are so beautiful, I told him to go have his eyes checked😊 i feel old, my entire body aches like I'm 90 but the worst of all the health anxiety ! Every little pain i keep thinking i have something terrible..Nights are the worst ...

Feel better and thank you so much for your message..

Hi Maria thanks for reply! Im sure too my poor mother suffered a lot with symptoms but doctors put it down to depression! God knows she had plenty to be depressed about... a hard life/ marriage, seven children whom she lived for and did everything for.... She was so strong, so soft and loving and carried on but now I realise a lot of what she suffered was caused by hormones... It must have been awful for her and nowhere to turn in those days! You couldn't mention " the change " it was a taboo subject... Dirty even... Suffer in silence.... Another lady here said she can't understand how hormones can affect health and brain so much.... I think that too... I don't understand why we are meant to be so unwell if it is a " normal part of life".... just don't get it and again why isn't there more advances in this area... So many sick women costs a lot... So new insights Into this would be welcome! Drug companies a factor i think! It keeps us needing medicine etc....anyway i hope things change..

When I wake my head feels like something is holding it..as soon as I worry I break out in heat then hot then freezing I can't sleep at night I stay awake till dawn fighting myself the Anixety is bad too  I'm 13 months no periods every night I say my prayers to God people say it will get better but I try to remember those words

I think the Doctors shot something into our systems to cause these reactions. Maybe it was the epidural, Great feeling but you'll pay later.

Omg I have been thinking the exact same thing! This is supposed to be a natural process going through menopause but it feels like dying from some unknown undiagnosed illness. My mother did not go through this and like you said the older generation surely did not feel this way and I also believe it has something to do with what we have been ingesting...and god only knows what chemicals we are exposed to on a daily basis. This is the worst I have ever felt in my life and I just pray this is not my new normal. The anxiety is the worst...feel like I have the flu,no energy and I just can’t cope. Soooooo over it! This is not normal to say the least. I keep having phantom menstrual cramps too..... I could go on and on about all the crazy symptoms.

Darlene.  So glad you posted this.  I’m sorry you are feeling terrible but don’t feel alone.  I have been feeling so bad the past few weeks.  I agree with everything you said.  This is not normal!i could feel this page with the stupid symptoms I have. I can say that my health anxiety is a little better from when all of this first started.  I think it is only because I’m not dead yet🙄. I feel like the docs think all of my symptoms are bc of my anxiety.??  I don’t know that I would have anxiety if I didn’t have crazy symptoms!!

Darlene this is so awful. Now I have a burning urethra. On top of no energy no sleeping very fatigued like fainting at times with slight flush and palpitations skipping beats of the heart severe flushing under feet. I.have just been sick with this in bed for 2 weeks. Hell. Just came of livial or tibilone as it's called because although it stopped me from feeling faint I was always extremely fatigued and sore joints

I was on it for 3 years and was not very effective anymore. Please tell me more about your symptoms. I am now 59. I have tried progesterone from compounding pharmacy but not good.

Omg! You have described me to a T! I’m so grateful I googled flu like symptoms and perimenopause and this forum popped up. I have been getting flu like symptoms, very severe leg pains(like you get with the flu!!!), mood swings, severe night sweats, tenderness in my left chest and lung, sleep troubles, burning eyes and the absolute WORST IS THE CONSTANT NAUSEA!!! I can deal with anything - but I cannot deal with nausea that lasts for days and days and days!!! I am at the point where my periods come about once every 4 months or so, and I’m praying to God every day to just make them stop. I seem to be okay, and then I get my period and I’m sick for an entire month after that - last month I was so sick that I could not eat and lost 15 pounds in a week! I, too, have been to doctor after doctor and have had every test known to man done - they cannot find anything. I’m left with an IBS diagnosis and given medications that do not help. It’s awful, and I pray for relief for each and every one of us. Please God, make it stop! I agree that it seems like there is an epedimic of these terrible symptoms because my older friends and family say this is not normal, but for us it seems to be. Sending big hugs and prayers to all if you ladies!!! ❤️❤️❤️

This is great news! i hope you are still doing amazing..i made many valient attempts at bio's and never was able to get it right but there are few fortunate like yourself where it changes everything.

I was curious though if you are doing 3 mg a day? this is a huge dose. but maybe thats why you feel better, and thats what makes it effective!

im still the same, dont forsee any change soon but not giving up.

Hi Kat, i hope you and everone else thats going through this get relief really soon. I have had the nausea that last for weeks and i thought it was the worse but when another symptoms hits it demotes the previous symptom. I dont know if its such a thing, which is worse because my experience they all are. Yes, many people tells me that this is not normal too. Some have even said that maybe someone witchcrafted me. In that case, it must be others too. Lol. Hang in there , we will get through this. I have prayed and prayed also for this to end .....

Hi kat44705,  just like you I suffer from this horrid Constant Nausea.   Ive had this for 7 months and  lost 2 stone.  I’m unable to eat and living off milk and joghourt.  Like you, when this started,  strangely,  I experienced severe leg pain.   I also had flu like symptoms.     I’ve been diagnosed with ‘mild gastritis’. (even though there’s nothing ‘mild’ about it).      Also like you all drugs I tried didn’t help but made the nausea worse.   I never thought before about the menopause but I see now that a lot of ladies have these  horrible gastric problems.    We must and will find a way out of this.  How are you today ?  Do you have any times during the day when the nausea is better (or worse)?  How do you survive with food etc?   Strangely I notice on days when my nausea is milder I feel no joint pain when I wake up.  When I wake up with strong leg pain, I also feel serious nausea.
    • Edited

I’m okay today, but still have severe leg pain. Seems like it goes from my knees to my ankles and just aches and aches! I did try to go to the gym on my lunch break and rode a stationary bike for about 20 mins today so possibly made it worse. However, I did notice several months back when I got into a regular routine of going that i did feel better after a few weeks. Then I had hernia repair surgery and could not go for a few months which set me back and then the nausea kicked in with a vengeance! The nausea is somewhat bearable today, but still there. Oh and To answer your question, my nausea initially seemed much worse in the morning(like morning sickness), but now I notice it comes and goes throughout the day now. I can tell you I’m going about 4 months between cycles now, and as soon as the nausea gets really bad, I know I’m going to see Aunt Flo within the next few days and then it continues for weeks and weeks after and eventually gets better but never goes away completely, only to come back again. I also experience severe pain in my right ovary(had checked all normal tests). I have good and bad days and it’s really hard because you cannot help but feel like somethings really wrong because you feel so horrid! My only saving grace is reading here that I’m not crazy. I was beginning to feel that way. I am also taking some supplements that I’m praying are helping since I’m feeling a little better. Currently those are magnesium, calcium, zinc, a really good probiotic, turmeric, fish, borage and flax seed oil and milk thistle.  Oh, and I keep ginger tea bags handy at all times. I am praying that these are helping me but will keep you posted.  The aches and pains seem to happen every day now when they used to only be a couple of days before period. I never know from one day to the next how I will feel and I hate making plans then having to cancel them at the last minute. It sucks and it’s really taking a toll on my relationships. I’m a single mother, too, so I’m all my daughter has and I do everything for her. It’s very hard when you’re too weak to do anything. She has seen many nights where I get off of work and pick her up, get dinner and go to bed. I’m praying it passes and I can actually be a good mommy and do fun things like we used to, but I’m very blessed because she’s an angel and understands. She will get in bed with me and watch TV with me. I just don’t want to miss her whole childhood due to being so sick all of the time.  It’s awful! Here’s praying we all find relief very very soon. I will keep praying for us! Hugs! ❤️❤️

It made me cry to read how lovely your daughter is as she is such an angel and so understanding and watching TV with you in bed.   I’m sure that would have a positive effect on your nausea.  I’m also so happy to have found this forum :  it means you’re not the only one...when you have all these tests done and you’re told you have only mild gastritis and nothing else... you wonder how this can feel so debilitating....To me it’s crystal clear that the nausea is caused by an upset vagus nerve in the stomach/guts.  But then also the joint pain. .... weired and annoying.  I had this stomach problem without joint pain badly for 3 years.  Then it totally disappeared for 2 years.  I felt great, was able to walk 10 miles per day on weekends.  Then  in October 2017 it came back with a vengeance after a long walk (stomach nausea and joint pain).   I was sooo disappointed  .... heartbroken ... that this nightmare returned.   Like you I don’t / can’t  commit  to doing anything fun with people. I’m sure I used to be a good fun person to be with.  Now I’m a boring person who needs to stay inside  as I may have to lay down.

...continued ... kat44705.  Are you able to eat ok ??  Do you also get nausea if you don’t eat little bits for several hours.  I feel also especially nauseous AM as nauseous as when I was pregnant = very nauseous.   Where do you buy your supplements?  Did you try them all together ?  Or individually?  And which probiotic ?  I tried one 2 years ago which made me even more nauseous.  Like you I feel terrible regarding my children.  I want to do things for my sons.  Instead I have to ask them to do things for me.   It’s so unfair.    I’m also praying ....  prayingthat this nightmare will go away for all of us. I do understand that we need to be patient  :  stomach problems like (chronic )  gastritis take time.      IT would be wonderful to make this miracle happen   :  RELIIEEF !!  Hugs to you as we’ll 💕💕

Im reading your messages and i feel for you totally.

Being nauseous and so many other things is a day to day survival.

And when we have children that completely rely on us for emotional, psychological stability it can be too much to bear.

We want to be and feel normal so that we can be our best for our children. i have two young teen boys, and alone doing it. It takes everything i have to do it.

Nausea has been a part of my life now for 18 months and counting. Food does not digest the same anymore, and it is less of a priority if you will..our adrenals are trying to do a lot of compensating for what is lacking in the other areas that are declilning or in my case void of (sex hormones)

I feel for you girls, i get it i get it. My sons know what im going through but can not help me. Should not even have to think about having to help me, I should be doing it all, and so I do..

All of this will pass, its just a matter of patience and time, and more importantly....Acceptance.

I take most of my supplements in the morning, although I have been taking the magnesium in the evening because it is supposed to help with sleep. The name of the probiotic I take is garden of life ultimate care. It is a brand founded by Jordan Rubin who is a naturopathic medicine expert. He also works with Dr Axe from YouTube who is also a naturopathic doctor. Check them out if you never have - I have followed them through this whole sickness ordeal and take the supplements I do because of their recommendations. Also, I started feeling less nausea within a couple of days taking this brand of probiotic. I’m not 100% this is the reason it has gotten better, but I will continue taking and will update you. I, too, had a difficult time with probiotics and would get terrible heartburn with them, but this one seems to work well with my system. I just pray for some relief from all of this soon. Today I was walking with a limp at work because my legs ached so bad. I’m 46, but feel 100. However, I’ll take this over the severe flu like symptoms and constant nausea any day! One other thing I started noticing a couple of years back, is right before my period I would get these dizzy/shock like sensations in my head and body. Almost like my sugar was low and I was getting dizzy spells from it, cubbies but with a kind of shock sensation at the same time. Very hard to explain and feels so weird. I was convinced I was having a heart attack or stroke, however, it would pass after my period started. Now I just get them randomly, not really correlating with my period now because I rarely get a period. Lol. Feels like terrible constant pms but with no period. At least when I was younger these symptoms would subside when my period started, but now I never get it and the symptoms go on and on, and there are so many of them. Dizzy head, shock feeling, chills, hot flashes, aches and pains in legs/hands, chest pain, tender neck, tender breast on one side, lung pain, weakness and of course the relentless nausea. I feel like it goes on and on and new symptoms every day. Lol when I hear myself say it, it sounds so crazy. Almost makes you feel like a hypochondriac, but you’re not because it’s very real.

Agreed! We will get through it. We just need to be here to support one another. It’s a rough ride, but with some faith and this forum we will get through it. I’m confident of that. Hugs!!!!

Hi Kat44705, I was so looking forward to reading your reply but sadly it’s waiting to be moderated.  I really hope it will eventually come through.  I think if one puts an email address in then it gets moderated away.

Heath anxiety has consumed me! I’m glad I’m not alone. I will have maybe a few days a month where I think I’m getting better then wham I feel like I have the flu... anxiety attacks at 4 am.... so tired I feel like I can’t through the day. This all started a year ago and I turned 50 recently. Have lost 20 lbs over the last year and had multiple tests done. Everything always comes back normal. I almost wish they could find something! Like thyroid problem or something to explain my symptoms because I cannot convince myself that all of this is due to hormones. It does help to be able to talk with others that are going through this. One day at a time I keep telling myself.

Are you feeling any better ?just read your post from 2016 and I just said he exact same thing .... wish they could find something wrong to explain this madness!

Been to 2 drs ended up at emergency one day !

I can’t stand it ! Think I’ve been in Peri since I was 41 as that’s when my panic attack’s started but thought it was due to a bad accident . I was feeling great the last few years regular periods then they stopped in December and by April I was a complete mess... no energy AT ALL. Feeling faint all the time ... panicky .. and just feeling so unbalanced mentally .

I am alone and don’t work my family is overseas so I have to keep myself motivated and it’s really really tough!

Don’t care about sweating getting flashes it’s the bloody mental crap! The flu like feeling and the exhaustion.

Been praying like a maniac for this to end !!!

Yes, I have the ear, gland and neck symptoms too. I suspect it’s tied to the anxiety, I have a jaw misalignment and when I’m anxious I tend to clench my teeth. I’ve read that can cause the same symptoms as an ear infection. I have the painful, clogged ear feeling, back teeth & jaw aches and a headache. No nasal congestion or other sign of illness. It makes me dizzy at times too. I also tend to get a very weird sensation like I’m about to pass out. My heart will race then get super slow.  None of which helps anxiety!

Darlene, I feel the same way both mentally and physically as you do. For two months solid I experience flu-like symptoms, awaken at 4am anxious, awaken again for work at 6:30am exhausted, am 51, lost 20 lbs. over the last year, and have had multiple normal-results tests, too. And indeed, one day---even one minute at a time---is key. I struggled terribly every day, getting anxious about every symptom and especially the flu-like ones, until I realized that this is chronic. So, I continue on all my herbal supplements, use an inhaler when necessary, and grieve for what and who I once was, which is now gone. My childhood asthma came back and I would rather have migraines than this. Just know you're not alone and that millions of us suffer in near silence because, well, Viagra is more important than we are.

I sincerely sympathize with you leslie. I have had the same weird symptoms like my ears are plugged and like fluid sensations in my head. Any popping in your sinuses as well? I have tried using the warm mist vaporizers and it does help somewhat. However, I understand this is a weird thing that I'm sure we never imagined would be associated with menopause. You may be developing food alergies, which unfortunately can happen during menopause as well. Was wondering if you were able to follow up on the fluid sounds. I have been back and forth to doctors with so many questions, but never seem to get any real solutions concerning what to do about these symptoms. I know your last post was about 2 years ago. How are things now? I am 59 years old and feels like I've been hit with many symptoms all at once. I felt the nausea coming on gradually, and then it seem to come to a real climax over the last 4 weeks. Been trying to do things to keep my mind off of it. Appreciate knowing how you are doing? I know God is able to help deliver us from all of these troubles. He made us and knows why this must be. Praying for everyone enduring these menopausal issues.
