To all the pre hippies it will be hard to find anyone more terrified than me in

The early stages, but I can promise you the thought and the wait is FAR worse than the procedure. It was fine every step of the way. Even waking up in recovery listening to Christmas songs on the radio - I actually felt like singing and was so relieved. I have no

Gaby, You are post-operatively sick - you are allowed to scream and be grumpy if that's how you feel. Β

I think we all agree, that most ladies like to use a little make-up, it makes you feel better. Β Nothing wrong with that.

We're not sick of Β you - we understand your problems, and sympathise with your predicament with your hips and knees.

All the best for a better day.

    Hi rose,

Just caught up with this post. Congrats!

Welcome to the land of hippies. Take it easy today. Ask the nurse to put things really close at hand for you. Don't try to reach out for anything.

Big hugs, Keep the pain under control today as this is the worst bit but it will ease off each dqy from now on I promise.

Sister has just taken me off pain relief except for paracetamol - is this right? I am quite worried about taking my first steps without proper pain relief but she says I am doing well enough without it!

If you had a good operation, that is fine - take it as a very good sign that you are well on your way now.

That is fine rose and a good sign as Rocketman says. Keep on top of pain though, try to have a light breakfast before you start walking. The moving bit is strange at first but will get better as you practise it.

Don't worry rose, you will be ine (and tired) by this evening.

      Hugs

Hmmm! Sister hasnt just been through a major operation so how would she know! Rose we all have different pain thresholds and paracetemol might be enough for you but the first couple of days you need to feel relatively pain free so you can start to get moving. So if you have any pain just ask them for more meds, there is absolutely no need for you to suffer. Just do whats best for you not Sister!

      Take care

This is exactly what I thought. So if I start to struggle I am going to ask her for the morphine back. I thought there was supposed to be a discussion about these things between patient and nursing staff.

I am okay lying down but can't imagine moving my leg!!!xx
