Congrats Rose from the US, I don't know what type of pain killer they gave me while in hospital but in rehab tramadol and Norco. Couldn't take Norco knocked me out, took tramadol only after therapy otherwise tylenol. Motrin helps the most. I couldn't believe how little pain for such big surgery but they had me up and walking directly after arriving into recovery which included steps. Good luck I will be reading your updates.

Hi Rose! Well done you! Hold your head high! Your over the worst! But don't over do things! Remember you've had a major op! One day at a time! Regards Amanda

Hi Rose, really good to hear that you've had your op and are on the road to recovery. Hope you are getting all the pain relief you need.

I find your words very reassuring before my surgery on Monday 7th. Was the sedetation along with spinal enough for you not to know what was going on in theatre?

All the best for you recovery.

I am so happy to hear this. I signed up to this forum bc I read your post. I am 44 and have never had any surgeries in my life - no children no tonsilectimy no nothing. Saying I am terrified doesn't even touch how scared I am. My total hip replacement anterior approach is scheduled for Friday morning. I can't stop having panic attacks. Any words of advice are very much appreciated.

      Listen to Gaby andSue,

They are so right, what you have now is totally understandable fear of the unknown.  Like you, I had never had an operation before, but there really is no need to be afraid.

We are form all walks of life from all over the world, and operate a 24x7 'service' to fellow hippies and (probably more importantly) to prospective hippies.

Stay calm, and if you want to know anything, ask on here as someone in this wonderful forum will have experienced it and be able to help you out, or tell you where to find the information.

      Best Wishes

      Graham

Thank you Sue!!  I am starting to look forward to the pain relief!  Hard to imagine but can't ignore what everyone says seems to be true for so many.

I don't think I'll mind the surgical pain as much - oh heck who knows as I've never had it before to really know. But I would think I would find it easier knowing it is healing pain and is only going to get better.

Plus good drugs to help forget the pain.

      Thank you!

Bless you Renee - I am being given paracetamol which means I am still quite sore. Day 2. Not going home yet as I fainted this morning (low blood pressure) but hoping to soon - thank you for finding me ! Xxx

I fainted quite a few times from low blood pressure. Felt lightheaded for about two weeks! Drink plenty ( I didn't) eat little & often even if you don't want to! It helps! Xx

Rose, how are you my lovely, i had paracetomol and others, if its not enough ask for stronger.  My blood pressure dropped really low to, had it taken every hour all night.  Didnt feel faint next day when i got up first time, but really dizzy.  Keep drinking water, be careful when pouring, i kept missing my glass., flooded the place several times.  Just take care, try and eat fruit as it makes you go loo, the pills sort of stop you. Your a qualified hippie now.
