I have had LS for over 3 years.f

I have had LS for over 3 years diagnosed by biopsy.  I have been using Clobetasol twice a week except for the 1st 12 weeks which was every night.  I had it completely under control until the past 2 months,  I underwent 2 surgeries and a hospital stay which required lots of antibiotics.  Even though I took diflucan, I still got a yeast infection that was misdiagnosed as a flare up of LS.  I am now really suffering,  Can’t wear underwear because of the pain.  I am going crazy because I never know if it is yeast or LS as I don’t get that familiar white discharge.  I never know if I should use the topical yeast medication or the Clobbetasol.   Has anyone ever used both together?  I do have itching which is relieved by topical yeast medication. I also use coconut oil.  This is the worst flare up I have had.  Thank you.  I am new to the discussion

Sarah, it sounds like you have a very complicated situation. If you can, try to find a specialist who deals with a combination of issues. If this helps, I use Recticare for pain. It's 5% lidocaine. For the flare-ups I use the Clobetasol twice a day for 2 weeks. Maybe use the yeast infection medication either 1 hour before or after. Not at the same time. I also did soaks twice a day during flare ups. I added 2 cups of apple cider vinegar or 1cup of baking soda. It really helps. I hope something I've written here will help you. I know-how flare ups are. I've had them. Recticare can be found in pharmacies.

Hi Debi, I have the lidocaine, but I didn’t know if I could use it during a flare.  I was concerned it may make it worse, but it sounds like no.   I have found a specialist at a Vulvar Clinic that deals just in diseases of the vulva.  May appointment isn’t until May 23rd.  She is the director of the Clinic and has about 15 Gynocolgist working under her.  I am so glad I will be seeing her.  My appointment is with Hospital Univeristy.  I had all my records forwarded there.  It went to a review board for approval and then my dr. was selected.  The review board has to approve your case.  Very different.  Just so thankful to God it was approved.  Looked on Line at the doctors ratings.  She had a 5 star rating with 249 reviews. Thanks for your help.  I will definitely try the lidocaine

Hi Sandra, it sounds like you are on track with some very good doctors! Yay! Because of severe vulvodynia, I was referred to Mayo Clinic for help. They have been great and I'm doing so much better. I apply the Rec-- at least 1 hour before or after the Clobetasol. I was also told to rub in the Clobetasol for 90 seconds. I wish you the best! Debi
