Almost three weeks ago I had a panic attack, ever since then I have pretty much completely lost the abilty to sleep my haed is so numb and almost completely lost all of my memory, I just feel like an empty vesile now, nothing works sleeping tablets, anxiety tablets, you name it Iv'e tried it all, people just tell me it's the anxiety making me think I'm loosing my memory but I just know that I am, I have almost completely lost the ability to imaginate, and I am almost certain if they did an x ray on my brain it would show extensive brain damage, I know most of you probably won't believe me, but I think I will be completely brain dead very soon, just don't know what to do anymore

Hi Jeremy, same boat as well, only arrived a little later than you (and David).
I think ours is derealization/depersonalization.
How are you? How is this evolving and, hopefully, getting better?
All the best
Aaron

Hi David,
Hi everyone: I feel EXACTLY the same way as David: bad trip, panic attack, his detailed descriptions of insomnia and feeling numbness/ a block in (fore)head match perfectly.
I know it's hell, but I believe this is not fatal insomnia at all, though. I think (and have been told by a psychiatrist) this to be depersonalization/derealization.
I have this condition since one year and I cannot see signs of the obvious neurological deterioration that would be caused by fatal insomnia. I only have some mental fatigue when moving the left hand/arm, but this since the beginning of this terrible thing, it did not deteriorate.
I also hope David had not fatal insomnia and believe that had he got it, he would have come back here to update during his deterioration (he wrote at 7 weeks past the emergence of the issue so he should have had the ability to do so for monhts).
However as I'm exactly in the same boat and David went through this 6 years ago it would mean the world for me if he or anyone with the same conditions would update us and let us know how it evolved, and hopefully, resolved.
Thank you very much and all best wishes,
Aaron

I am going through this too.
If I don't take sleeping medication I don't sleep.
I've lost the ability to feel tired.
Are you able to sleep at all?
