Today marks 1month post op ....I was supposed to have the THD Doppler Hemorrhoid System procedure, with no stitches and 2 weeks of recovery. Well I definitely got more than I bargained for. After getting in there my surgeon realized it was alot more that what He and I both expected, only problem I'm asleep and He has a job to do, GET RID OF THE HEMORRHOIDS! 2nd Day post op, I was in so much pain I was popping Tramadol Tylenol3 w/Codeine and 800mg Ibuprofen every 3 hours then I started taking 2 of the Tylenol and the Ibuprofen because my Butt was laughing at the tramadol! ๐..About 7 days post op I couldn't even pass gas it was like my BUTT was sewn together. Mind u I have no idea I have stitches because I was still under anesthesia when I left the hospital, so all this time I have no idea what had happened to me, all I know is that it feels like someone pulled the trigger twice with a 12 gauge shotgun right in my Butt Hole๐ซ...So I'm completely stopped up, constipated, I call the nurse of my Surgeon He finally calls back and all He says is that He was in the room when they did my surgery and it was pretty bad, the Hemorrhoids were diseased! Okay at this point I'm suffering so badly I cant comprehend any of that, I just want the pain to stop, cause at this point I'm a basket case. I take a full double dose of Milk of Magnesia and then I chase that with one MiraLax in the Am and one at Night....Needless to say when I did start to work it was alot of towels, bleach, showers, washing, ect.....it was a mess and I couldn't control it, I would think I was done and nope! Unspeakable, Violent, Excruciating pain comes to mind when I'm having a bowel movement, It is the worst pain I have ever felt period. I have to hold on to something I can squeeze, there is no such thing as breathing it's a shortsobbing! , I feel like I'm going to pass out and I cant help but cry.....the water just comes out of my eyes but it hurts to bad to sobb! I am an emotional reck and I cant tell if I'm getting better or worse, I see my Dr early next week, but I am so tired, i just wanna feel normal again! I dont know what to do !

I am sorry to read about your pain, I know it is awful. Everyone will attest that it gets better but takes time. Hang in there, read all the accounts on this site, it is helpful. Especially look for the threads started by Gee and Pita, It helped to read what others have gone through. It also helped to tell my story,
There are things you can do. For me hot baths were a god send early on. Certain anesthetic Creams, a cycle of Tylenol and Ibuprofen, a limited amount of painkillers, and alcohol all helped to varying degrees. It seems you have the fiber, stool softeners, and digestives well in hand,
Good luck, keep us posted om how you are progressing

I'm so sorry about the pain you're suffering! I'm 4 months and a week post operation, no pain but still have discomfort such as swelling, rectal pressure and lumps... please be patient and ESPECIALLY be aware and be prepared that the process of the recovery will be slow and hard. BUT be positive and go through it as it has to get better! What the surgeons claim about two weeks recovery is a very very obvious lie! Dear friend, they lie easily otherwise few people accept to go through this surgery..... Please be positive, be hopeful and prepare your body and mind to get better and finally be fully healed in about 6 months! Knowing the.thruth is much better than counting days , weeks and months and just waiting........ BE STRONG!

My doc said 1-2 week recovery, what a joke. The medical information online says 2 weeks as well. I dont understand it. Of all the accounts I have read (hundreds), it is a 8-12 week initial recovery with complete recovery often taking many months and sometimes up to one year. Dont be fooled by the 2 week estimate! Read up and prepare for a rough ride. It does get better but its an ordeal.

I was told 1-2 weeks, too! What a lie.... If they say monthssss (6 months to 1 year) they'd definitely lose many of their customers (patients) and the INCOME....

Bless you, is all I can say! I haven't had any surgery on mine yet, but I am terrified! Have you tried ice packs and sitz baths? I am sure you have, but thought I would mention it.
My hems are so bad even my Regular GP said I need to have mine removed! SO... mine will probably be as bad as yours! I may be contacting you after my surgery!
Hang in there and remember with time, all this will be over! Wishing you relief!!! ๐

It is critical to prepare. As already mentioned take care of your GI tract several days before. If I had to do it again I would do a total cleanse with magnesium. At a minimum take stool softeners and fiber at least three days in advance.
Do you have a hand held shower sprayer? If get one installed before. Do you have a full size tub? If so, great. If not get a sitz bath. Baths will be your friend!!! Make sure you have non stick gauze and cream (i.e. Aquaphor, Vaseline, etc) and have your doc call in an anesthetic cream. Obviously be sure to have all your meds and supplements bought in advance. This includes Ibuprofen and Tylenol. CAREFUL with the opioid painkillers and constipation effect. I used very few of them and found that cycling Tylenol and Ibuprofen worked well. Plus a 5PM double whiskey; Im serious.
Lots of good advice discussions on this site. The ones started by Gee and Pita are very good.
Also, and this may sound odd, plan to be here and tell us what is happening. I found it very beneficial for my sanity for the first few weeks.

What stool softerner is best I have fybogel at min but is that good . Have started to eat well and have got an enema to do before I go for op . I'm lucky my husband is at home for 7 days with after and bless him he's been making lots of soups for after the big day . Could you tell me what the magnesium is for . You must be a strong person to do it alone so pleased you are doing well .
