I have questions about my Major Depressive Disorder?

Hey, I recently got Diagnoised with Major Depressive Order with under lying Anxiety, i've been on Citalopram for 6 days now, and I THINK it's starting to help, but I had a few questions,

1: Can Anxiety and Depression cause an "Unreal" Feeling? The Doctor said it can, but still, anyway I think the Meds are starting to help it?

2: Did anyone else with Depression ever have their Brain try to tell them something else was wrong with them?

      Hi Chelsea

i dont know if I've got depression , but I deffo hav anxiety attack and panic attacks .

Yes , the brain  does tell you something else , and more so negative things to stress u out even more .

The he brain like to control you and weaken you .

What at you have to do is be STRONG , tell your head , to SHUT UP , and keep REAPTING , EVERTHING ALRIGHT .

This is what I say to myself constantly and I TRY to FIGHT the negative thoughts my brain tells me .

Sometimes it it works sometimes I need someone else to keep constantly reassure me .

And believe eve me my friends and family are hardly there when I need them , and don't know how to manage or help me , so I turn to this  site ...... For support and advise .

This is site is a god send for the sufferers with tons of friends and a big family member but no one there in the hour of need .

Feel free reed to ask more questions , your not alone .

      Tk cre

    Hey Chelsea!

I don't know about the depression part of it but, I suffer from anxiety daily and I can honestly say that a lot of times I feel "unreal" or even "spacey". For me it comes and goes depending on if I'm alone with my thoughts or if I'm occupied with something. As for the thoughts of ailment, yes. Very much yes. My anxiety causes me to worry about my health constantly. Every little ache or pain, my breathing, my heartbeat, my vision. Everything. I was supposed to start taking Citolopram 2 weeks ago but, due to personal reasons I have decided to tackle my anxiety by confronting my fears, making a list of what triggers it, excersice and surrounding myself with friends. So far, I have noticed that I'm usually able to calm myself down fairly quickly in the event of a flair up of anxiety. Anyway, best of luck to you!

Thanks! smile I thought it was just me with the thoughts, has it ever tried to tell you you have Multipule Personality's? or Sikzo?

For me no multiple personalities.. But yes tells me there is something wrong.. When I know and been told by dr there is NOTHING wrong

No, I've not had anything like that but, best advise I can give is to make a list of the negative thoughts that run through your mind. That way, if the thought runs through your mind again you can address it before it becomes a problem.

The doctor said the same thing and every one else! I just worry myself alot and have a hard time trusting people when they say i'm fine

I went ahead and stopped relying on medical tests after an EKG and all my blood work came back normal. Trying not to dig a money pit. Hahaha.

The only person that was able to calm me down, when it was real bad, was my mom. Really though, only you can convince yourself you're fine. It's what I tell myself every day.

I rely on my Mum alot, she helps me so much, if I didn't have here I wouldn't be here right now

That cheesy saying, "Mom knows best" isn't just a cheesy saying after all. Hahaha. My mom also suffered from anxiety and she took anti depressants for 3 months and now she's fine. It all works out, we just have to get a grip on it, you know?

Oh I know, I've only been on mine for 6 days, but man it's hard waiting for them to start working! And no it's not just a cheesy saying lol smile
