I have questions about my Major Depressive Disorder?

Hey, I recently got Diagnoised with Major Depressive Order with under lying Anxiety, i've been on Citalopram for 6 days now, and I THINK it's starting to help, but I had a few questions,

1: Can Anxiety and Depression cause an "Unreal" Feeling? The Doctor said it can, but still, anyway I think the Meds are starting to help it?

2: Did anyone else with Depression ever have their Brain try to tell them something else was wrong with them?

    Hi Chelsea,

yes same here with me. The problem is, we have a problem with a racing heart or whatever the symptom...and we start to focus on it and the more our focus goes to it the bigger it becomes in our minds...alteast for me.

so two ways to do it.....sit and listening and write down the thoughts you are having or find something else to focus on. Our egos have a way with trying to get all our undivided attention. Even if it's pain.

so, try to put your attention on a book, or work and when you have quiet time listen to your thoughts....and see if they are negative might be the case.

    good luck.

    Hi Chelsea,

you may get more answers in the depression group. . . but I suffer from both - so I can relate to what you are saying.

    1. Yes. Definitely. Celexa also known as citalopram can also cause that as a side effect but it will pass within a couple of weeks.

2.Yes. Sometimes I used to think "maybe I'm bipolar" or "maybe I'm crazy". When  I had panic attacks at first I believed there was something wrong with my heart but I was just completely in denial!
