I'm 49, could I have PMR?

I have had severe pain and stiffness in my shoulders and neck for about a month. my hips have been hurting for about 1 week. I gave fibromyalgia, but this seems different. I've feel like I am coming down with the flu. it takes me about 3 hours in the morning before I can get up and dressed. All the stuff that I have been reading says PMR affects people over 50, usually over 70. I have am appt. with my PCP on Tuesday and don't know what to expect. Any advice?

.....PMR and cats and a mass of jumbled replies! What a funny thread to try to read! Just to say that I was under 50 when diagnosed. Still battling through but wisdom and chat on this forum has been super helpful. All the best! RD

Went to the doctor and he totally thought I was PMR. Wanted to order blood tests before he ordered prednisone so that he could get a baseline. All labs came back normal. So I got a message from him today that said because of my age and normal inflammatory markers there is no way that it could be pmr. and prednisone wouldn't do any good. He said that it could be a fibromyalgia flare or another auto immune disorder such as RA which we could test for. I thought "a fibromyalgia flare that has lasted 1 1/2 months. I don't think so.". He also said we could get xrays of the joints to see if there is a problem there. How many xrays would that take (shoulders, neck, hips, ect). Does anyone know of anything that I can show him that proves that someone my age can have normal labs and the only way to check is a trial of steroids (preferably usa article). I really like my dr. and have never had this kind of problem before. Should I do all the extra labs and xrays? I'm not sure if I could get a referral to a rheumatologist. there are none were I live (I would have to go about 3 hours away). Plus I have medicare and they are really picky. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
