i'm back =(

some of you 'old timers' might remember me smile

i started orlistat in summer '09 and they worked well for me, i have PCOS so weight gain is easy and loss is so difficult.

i lost 2 stone but near the end of my time on the tablets i was not really losing and my doc was considering stopping them if i didnt have a loss the next month, before the next weigh in it was my wedding and from the tuesday before to the tuesday after i put on 8lbs, i was so embarrassed and was convinced there was no way my doc would perscribe again so i didnt go back and tried to go it alone with healthy eating and exercise.

for a few months i managed to maintain my weight then i had a stressy time buying a house, then moving so my healthy eating and exercise went out the window, i got back on track and a month later fell and tore ligaments in my wrist which got me signed off work for 5 wks, i was so down n lonely, couldnt even go out for a walk after it snowed n got icy so in the first 3 weeks i comfort ate n sat around and put on more weight. i had enough of it all and took up jogging on my wiifit for up to an hour a day 3-4 times a week, behaved over xmas and went back to the gym as soon as i could

i'm about 4lbs away from my heaviest which i was when i started orlistat in '09, i go to the gym 3 times a week and also do a zumba class and i'm watching what i eat but the weights not shifting much at all

i have moved GP now and i am considering seeing my new doc about going on orlistat again, i'm just nervous that they won't be as understanding as my old GP

    Hi Sparkles

I should have read this one first.

Sorry you have had such a bad time. It's not fair when people like us gain weight so easily when we have to work so hard to lose it. I don't suffer from PCOS but suffer from an underactive thyroid and seem to only look at high fat foods and seem to gain so have to be very good most of the time.

Good luck on visiting your Dr, surely the condition you suffer from should go in your favour. Let us know how you get on smile

i'm going to call this week to try and see a doc

with having PCOS my old GP explained that it may be difficult to get pregnant and if i can shift some lbs it could help, my goal is to shift 2-3 stone and start trying for a baby Aug/Sep so fingers crossed the new GP is willing to help!

    Hi Sparkles

I'm doing great thank you smile

    Got everything crossed for you

It was a Nurse Practitioner who asked me if I wanted to go on the tablets. It's sometimes easier to get an appointment to see one of these and she lets me come to the Family Planning drop in sessions every four weeks after work with an appointment for a quick chat, weigh in and rebooks me in for four weeks time.

Good Luck Hope your new Practice has lovely sympathetic staff smile

I called my new GP surgery today and the nurse i spoke to on the phone said they would offer me a 10 week course to teach me how to exercise, cook healthily and learn to buy good foods in a shop!!!! What a piss take!!! I was so mad, bearing in mind i had already talked to her about my eating and exercise, this course wont do anything for me!

I have booked in to see a GP next week but i am not convinced that they're gonna offer me anything other than this stupid course sad

    OH NO! That's no good

Hope you do better with the Doctor

Can't think who it was but somebody said they had vouchers for weight watchers or slimmers world for so many weeks

Good luck on getting the blueys from the doctor & a sympathetic hug

What a nightmare, just because we are overweight doesn't mean we are stupid, just find it difficult to apply what we know.

It was me that mentioned the Slimming World vouchers but I'm not sure what the criteria is to get them.

Hope the GP is a bit more sympathetic.

What a cheek. We all know the theory of losing weight, it's the practice we have problems with. Hope you have better luck with your GP.

    Hi Sparkles

    That's impressive.

I'm fine my scales do seem to be stuck though. Mine are always more than at the surgery. I weighed 83 kilos Dec and Jan and my scales are stuck on 83.2 for at least 2 weeks  so hopefully I will have lost something when I go next Thursday tea time so hopefully the nurse will give me so more but still have quite a bit to lose. I do think my clothes are getting looser so pleased :D with that so I'll plod on.

Fed up of the cold weather and looking forward to longer warmer days.

you've done really well losing what you have, i'll keep my fingers crossed the GPs scales show a loss!

i went to the zumba class yesterday and to the gym today (another 800kcals burned), i asked my gym instructor to run off a list of sessions i've done in the last month so i can prove it to the GP and he doesn't think i am full of hot air!

Hi Sparkles It's not fair that you are working so hard and the weight isn't budging; but don't let this stop you from keeping it up Surely if you keep up with all the exercise and stick to a low fat diet as if you are on the tablets you must start losing soon.

Well, hello Sparkles....it's 'quill-drill' here....again.....remember me? Well I did lose over 2 stone over the last 2 years or so and finished tabs last September....Dr said I was below the weight I needed them...now I was go go home and do what I was doing without the blueys....hmmmm...folks....I can tell you that doesn't work, or at least it didn't for me. First we went on holiday and then we had that awful c-o-l-d weather and no walking....well, I'm sure you can guess...I've put on a stone since then and I am thoroughly fed up with myself...cross with myself....I've got back to walking mind you and I am so unfit it is unbelieveable...suffering heartburn big time....eating too much and that roll of flab is back to help the heartburn! I am just trying to decide if I should go back to the Dr again and ask for more.....this week I am going to try a week of my 'chemical' diet which is not too hard but you do lose and it gets you into the mood again....anything after a week of this is easy. I know this is not what I should be saying here (chemical diet) but it is necessary for me to kick start my body. I've done it before...you only do it for a week at a a time. So are there any of the other 'oldies' around - Ruth - are you still around? I hope so as you were so encouraging and helpful to me last time.
