I'm Back! Vulvar burning returned!

I don't know if this is the forum I was posting on a few months ago. I had vaginal burning from multiple treatments for yeast and bacterial infections. I tried everything: coconut oil, olive oil, Vaseline, Estrace. I finally found relief with a compounded estrogen cream and I had been fine for months.

After sex, I usually burn for a couple of days, but I am returning to my chronic burning. I used hydrocortisone 1% ointment the last couple of days and now I am burning even more. I have stopped using the estrogen compound until the burning or irritation clears up, for I don't want to exacerbate the irritation.

Just wondering if anyone else burns from hydrocortisone ointment. Also wondering if I stop the estrogen compound (which I use twice a week) should I start using it daily for three weeks as I did when I first started?

I thought I was cured from this misery! Thanks for any input.

im firmly convinced its all yeast too. even though tests show its not there. it kind of is

It could be yeast as our PH is probably fluctuating a lot. I think the hormone creams are supposed to help with that though. All I know is I can be comfortable one minute and uncomfortable the next. That also applies to days, not just minutes.

After an exhausting day we went out to dinner and I had a small glass of riesling white wine. Ouch. My urethra has been burning like a son of a gun ever since urinated when we came home.

Now I'm filled with regret and drinking a glass of baking soda water.

My new container of hormone cream was just delivered so I thought I would try out a smear of it down there. I was hoping for soothing -not so much.

Hi, if I were you I would start using the estrogen again every day, as you did.

anybody tried boric acid pessaries. fantastic reviews online but im a bit scared and sceptical?

Years ago I tried filling empty capsules with powdered boric acid and inserting them. Didn't help with my problem at the time. Was trying to adjust PH. May have been suggested by my gyn, can't say for sure. Was a long time ago. Didn't have a negative reaction; just no change. Assume you are trying to lower your PH?

I have had the same problem for years. I had chronic Thrush and I was allergic to the creams which created more issues and since I have not been able to get my skin back to normal. I have been put on Fluconzole one per week to keep it away but I test negative to thrush. Plus It burns all the time. Dr thinks it could be Psorisis. I have been given Fatty ointment to try but most other ointments burn so I am a bit worried to use it.

Are the doctors testing you PH? You can buy strips and test as well. Inexpensive fortunately.

Also, might be possible you were reacting to the base cream of the med you were given if it had preservatives in it. I have been using a hormone cream that was compounded using a preservative free base. Has your doctor suggested that?

I am in the US. Not sure if you have access to compounding pharmacies.

Are you seeing a vulval skin specialist?

what does th Ph strips do?

yes we have compounding chemists here. i have tried the boric acid tablets too

hayy, the strips can test the PH of your urine and/or your vagina. Google acceptable #s. Having the right levels creates the best environment to fight overgrowth of the wrong bacterias.

You should ask your dr if he/she thinks there is a chance that you are reacting to preservatives in the creams you used. If so the same active ingredient can be used with a preservative free base. But if you are in the UK and getting free meds this may cost you. In my case it cost over $200 LESS to get the compounded version than the commercially available one from the drugstore because of the insurance I had. Healthcare in the US is an unfathomable maze.

Apparently your fatty ointment has a steroid in it which is what they treat psoriasis with. Same as treating Lichen Sclerosis which is on the outside, though I'm not sure if it's the same type of steroid. You can google most of this stuff. Best to take notes as it becomes overwhelming. Also helps you when seeing the doctor to be able to ask specific questions. Good luck.
