I'm back with some blood test results. Please explain these to me

Posted , 5 users are following.

I'm sure you all remember me. I posted here 2 months ago about being worried about having kidney disease. Well I went to the doctor on Wednesday of this week. And I was able to view some of my blood test results online. However I don't exactly know what they mean. I am going back to my doctor again next Wednesday. But i wanted to see if you all could explain the blood test results to me before I go back? Here are my results.

CREATININE-RANDOM, URINE 97 mg/dL 20 - 320 mg/dL

MICROALBUMIN 0.5 mg/dL See Note: mg/dL

Reference Range:

Reference Range

Not established

MICROALBUMIN CREATININE RATIO RANDOM 5 mcg/mg creat <30 mcg/mg creat

The ADA defines abnormalities in albumin

excretion as follows:

So does 97 mg/dl mean that my kidney function is at 97 percent? I don't really understand. Here is a picture of it too. I know that i upset you all a few weeks ago. but i would appreciate your help. thank you.

Megan3031, looking at your pathology, your basically only just either slightly elevated legs and the others appear to be well within the normal ranges. But if you are worried, make another appointment, ask your Dr to explain what each reading is, or research it online. I'm sure, if it was anything urgent, your Dr would have you called in ASAP, but until then, I would not panic! When your creative levels are 500+, then you will have reason to panic. But always, always check with your Dr. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and if you don't feel reassured, then always go with your gut instinct and get a second opinion.

i hope this helps, good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks so much for the advice. And which level was slightly elevated? Also i guess this must have been the urine test. But i am not sure if the urine test was accurate though because i was having trouble getting enough urine in the cup. Does there have to be a certain amount of urine in the cup in order for the urine test to be accurate? They also did a blood test that tests my liver and kidney function. I must have not gotten that one back yet but I will post it here when i get it back. And i am still wondering why I get light brown urine and muscle twitches. Maybe i'm having liver problems though. I guess i will have to wait for the blood test that shows my actual kidney function and liver function. I am guessing the blood test is more accurate than the urine test right?

    Hi Megan once again!

your test numbers are all well within the normal range.  You should be reassured by them.

Very possibly what you should be concerned about is your propensity to worry.

Eat healthily, exercise as much as possible to get fit, that will make you feel well physically, and then it is likely you will stop worrying.

    The best of luck,

    KenR

Oh actually i guess this test that they posted must have been the urine test I did. I thought it was the blood test, but i must have misread it. Because when I went back to read it again it said urine. well i have a question. When i did the urine test I was having trouble with peeing in the cup so I wasn't able to get much urine in the cup. So i am wondering if that urine test is actually accurate? Are they able to get an accurate reading with alittle bit of urine in the cup? I didn't even get my cup filled halfway either when i peed in the cup. So i am wondering if that urine test was actually accurate. They also did another test for my liver and kidney functions, but I guess i must have not gotten that test back yet since this test that i posted here says urine. And from looking that test up online it must have meant that i don't have protein in my urine. But i hope that is accurate though since I wasn't able to get much urine in the cup. Do you think that not having a bigger urine sample in the cup can affect the results? And im still not sure why I have the light brown urine sometimes and the muscle twitches. Maybe i'm having liver problems instead? I'm not sure. but I am still waiting for the test for my liver function and kidney function.

Great News then Megan, go live a happy healthy life, you dont need to worry now.

I got confused when I first made this post. I thought it was the blood test that I was posting about. But then after i posted this I noticed it said the urine test. I sure hope the urine test is accurate though. Because when I had to pee in the cup i was having trouble doing it so i didn't get much urine in the cup. I'm not sure if a urine test can be accurate if there isn't much urine in the cup. They also did a blood test to see how my liver and kidney function is. I would bet that will be more accurate than the urine test. So I'm still sorta worried. because i'm  not sure if the blood test for kidney function is going to say something different or what. I didn't get that test back yet though. I think i will get it back next week sometime. I will only feel 100 percent better after i see the blood test results for that. Hopefully the blood test result says the same thing as the urine test though.

Also If i have any questions about what my kidney function blood test means when i get it back next week then could i please post it in this forum? And i hope people would help me if i have any questions about my blood test results? I am just new to all of this so if anyone can explain the results to me if i need help then i would appreciate it.

Megan I apologize that u feel you cant ask for help here because u can! the only problem i had was you was adamant you had CKD because of something u read on some website... u self diagnosed yourself pretty much and was so so anxious, you don't have ckd hun, your creatinine would be high, yours is in normal range

Its alright and you don't have to apologize. And well i am more worried now because i got a voice mail from my doctor. They told me they would call me if there was a problem. I haven't listened to the voice mail yet, but i'm afraid that it will be bad news. I will listen to it later though because i know that i need to know if there really is something wrong.

I mean yes maybe the problem could be something else instead of kidney disease. I'm not sure yet. I will have to check to see what they said on the voice mail. I will also check online to see if they posted the blood test results yet for my liver and kidney function. I'm going to check it after work. And if it does say something  on the blood test that is not normal then i will post it here to ask questions if i need to.

You are absolutely normal. The 97 for creatinine random unrine range should be anywhere between 20 & 320 & you have 97. This has nothing to do with your kidney function. Your  micro albuminum is 5 and should be below 30 it is also normal. What is your creatinine blood level? If it is high them your GFR should be low and this is the number that indicates at what level your kidneys are functioning. My blood creatinine level is 0.97 and it should be under 0.94 - this affects m6y gfr level which is 58 (this is the rate that my kidneys are functioning) and should be below 60. Hope this information helps.

thank you for your help. and i am not sure what my creatiinine blood level is yet. They said they did a blood test for my liver and kidney function but i didnt see the results of it yet. But my doctor did say that they would call me if there was a problem. And i got a voice mail from my doctor. so i think there could be a problem. maybe liver and kidney function test came back today or something. I will have to check after work and see what it says. If i have any questions about it i will post it here if i need help understanding it.

Also the thing that confuses me is how is my urine normal when I have been getting light brown urine sometimes.I didn't have the light brown urine when i gave the doctor urine for the urine test though. Sometimes i get light brown urine. And then sometimes its normal looking urine. So i wonder if my creatinine level could still be bad? I guess i need to get the results of the blood test that they did for my kidney function to see what the creatinine level is.

The creatinine level in your blood test is the only way you can see if your kidneys are working OK.

I found out that the CREATININE is 0.77 mg/dL and it says the EGFR is 88 mL

So that means my kidneys are function at 88 percent then right? I'm 30 years old too. Is that bad for a 30 year old? or is it alright?

Thanks for the advice. I know that if I go on a diet and exercise then I can lose weight and get healthier. Because one of my biggest problems is that i am 220 pounds over weight. But if i work hard i am sure i can lose all that weight in a few years. I will certainly take steps to be healthier and I am sure that will help my kidney function to not get worse as well. You were right too when you said that i could have other health problems instead of kidney disease. I know i should have considered other health issues instead of being so worried about having a bad kidney function. The doctor said the biggest problem i am having is that i have fatty liver disease. I was really surprised about that. I thought for sure that my kidney function was bad. But you were certainly right when you said that I could have a different disease like liver disease or something else. I know it was so silly of me to worry so much about kidney disease when it turned out to be something completely different that was causing my problems. And now i have learned that just because i have symptoms of a disease doesn't necessarily mean that i have it. Because i know you and other people were saying that some of the symptoms i was having are symptoms of other diseases as well. I am betting that the light brown urine, the increased skin pigmentation, the muscle twitches, and the easy bleeding and bruising are all because of my fatty liver disease that i have. I know you said that alot of those symptoms i had are also symptoms of liver disease. So yes you were completely correct.
