I'm convinced myself I am seriously ill and I don't know what to do

So for the past couple of months I've been having palpitations, my bones ache, my muscles twitch, my neck aches, I feel dizzy, I feel weak and I've googled and googled and I've over and over again convinced myself I am either really ill or dying. I can't sleep at night because I've convinced myself I might not wake back up, the pains feel so real and it scares me so much. I went to the doctor about my palpitations and sore bones and they have prescribed me with anxiety tablets but I'm still convinced it's something else not anxiety! Can anyone relate or help me who knows if this does sound like anxiety??

i mean i cant really help you if youve convined yourself your seriously ill... the most i can suggest is sense you are seriously ill ( as you said) is to educate yourself on natural remedies such as cayanne pepper, garlic, magnesium, the importance of excerise, kefur, etc and after you incorpate all of them into your life, if you do indeed surcome to your illness atleast you will know in your heart you tried your best to prevent it.

I used to do this but I realize I have generalized anxiety disorder.  I could only focus on my physical symptoms and googled myself into a frenzy.  I now have to take meds (I'm 35) which have helped tremendously.  Even if I do feel off, I don't panic.

Thank you all! I've been getting myself into such states about this. So it's helpful to see others are experiencing this aswell!

I'm the same way, it is a endless fear cycle the more we Google our symptoms, the worse it get's we're feeding more fears into our minds. There were few times I stopped Googling my symptoms a few momths ago for a few weeks, and I noticed I wasn't feeling as anxious, but as soon as I started to search agian, I started to scare myself.

I used Magnesium oil for over a month it did help with muscle twitches, I haven't used it for 4 months now, I still get muscle twitches, and the other symptoms you mention, plus more.

Sounds like you've got yourself a case of health anxiety. Best thing to do for yourself is to stop googling all your symptoms. If you have explained your symptoms to your doctor, and they have examined you and preformed the appropriate tests and determined that there isn't anything wrong, then it's time to shift your focus to dealing with your health anxiety. Again, I'm assuming that your doctor has done an appropriate examination, be that with blood work, an ENT visit to rule out inner ear problems, and a Neuro consult to rule out neurological problems. I went thru all the steps and still managed to be plagued by health anxiety afterwards. It's not easy. Your brain is now so tuned in to every little feeling in your body that it's going to focus on alllll the things it used to ignore and blow them way out of proportion. You've got to try to live your life as normal as possible. Don't let those feelings stop you from doing things. You need to retrain your brain. If you allow yourself to be scared all the time and it leads you to avoiding situations or activities or maybe just hide it in your room, then you are teaching your brain that there IS something to be afraid of, and your problems will persist. It is NOT an easy thing to do. It is a hard road. Use all the support you can get. Use this forum. Go to cognitive behavioral therapy. But you can get past it.

Thank you so much! That is so helpful! I hate this and never ever thought it would be anxiety so I will do as much as I possibly can to overcome this!

DO NOT EVER GOOGLE if you have health anxiety!!! This is what made me so bad this time round and I'm still getting over it.

When you are super aware of your body you will start to notice all sorts of things that most people have and never think twice about. Those little twitches or twinges then get magnified ten fold and they seem much more intense then they actually are.

I have been obsessed with a tummy sensation in one area of my tummy, when I get a twinge or maybe a knottng feeling there I totally freak out yet when it is elsewhere in my tummy I don't! This is because I convinced myself I had cancer in a specific organ due to google searching about it when actually all the docs said the weird knotting feeling was anxiety. Even now any weird feelings in that part of my tummy freak me out!

Next time you get a 'symptom' try to take a few deep breaths and ask yourself if it's happened before and if it's passed and you've been fine, the answer is yes! You are fine!

Try asking your doc if he / she can recommend counselling or something instead of tablets or in addition to them to get you through this!

i google things nearly every single night and I know it is silly. I started firstly having heart palpitations but weirdly enough I don't have them anymore as now I worry more about the pains in my arms and legs and the back and neck pains! I have been put on anxiety tablets but I'm still waiting for my blood realists to come back but as soon as I told the doctor my symptoms she straight away put me on anxiety tablets so I think she does think it is anxiety!

It sounds like it for sure!

Try to wean yourself off googling symptoms. I come on here now instead each time I feel uneasy about something and feel the urge to google it! Lots of people have similar sensations and feelings on here and that has really worked to help me through this.

Googling health stuff for me feels like how I imagine being an alcoholic feels like about drink, like I'm addicted to it. I also turned to it for reassurance about symptoms but that never worked either because there always seems to be a caveat with everything on google to say 'but this could also be the sign of something serious' like literally everything says that.

If you're worried about something in future obvs go to doc, the real life doc not Dr Google.

I know what you mean, when it started with me I never even once thought it could be anxiety. I'm 34 years old, and it hit me out of the blue about two years ago. Started getting panic attacks, which led to panic disorder, which turned into health anxiety. Before that, I had zero concerns about my health. None. Then it was all turned upside down. I could not stop looking up symptoms. It really got into my head. I'm much better these days, and almost completely back to "normal." If you have questions about symptoms, try to ask on here rather than Google. You get people with real experience. There really aren't many symptoms that anxiety CAN'T cause, short of losing a limb. If that happens, feel free to Google "arm fell off, is this normal?" Otherwise, try to stay off and focus on working on your anxiety

Thank you so much. I didn't even know what anxiety was until a week ago. I didn't know anxiety could cause this!
