Hi Monkeype. Good to hear all is well so far. I had little to no pain after my op 9 weeks ago this Monday. I want home after 48 hours and have progressed remarkably well. I ditched my sticks after 2 weeks and could walk 1.5k after 3 weeks. I started driving at 5-6 weeks. I still have some soreness deep inside and my knee is still a bit sore sometimes but that's where all the trauma goes during the operation. I had slight swelling but that went with about 10 days. Do all your exercises and walk as much as you can. It also helps not to sit in one position for too long. You'll get very tired during the first month so have a lay down after lunch. It really helps to recharge your batteries. If you get on as well as I have done you'll be delighted. I wish you all the very best with your recovery.

Hiya guys 😃
Well think the ward is up against it, nurses running all over the place, bells going of constantly 🙄 been sat like this now for long time, I'm sure they'll be round soon. Sat up in bed with them funny blowing up leg wraps 😃
Keep blowing up every 30 secs then go down 😀 fingers crossed I'll be up out the bed later 😎
One thing I had never told until yesterday, was a doctor talking to me about bone donation 🙄😁 she asked if I would sign to say they could freeze the bone being removed, said it would be used for bone grafting if it was a good match. Why not I thought, was thinking of making a table lamp out of it, but what the hell lol 😀
Feeling good in myself so that's ok, be good to be up later this afternoon.

The leg wraps are wierd aren't they? They help prevent blood clts by keeping your legs massaged. All clever stuff. Hope you've been out of bed by the time you read this. Little tip while your leg feels useless - hook your dressing gown belt under your foot and lift your leg into bed. Makes it much easier.

Hi Marion,
Yep been out the bed for fist time this afternoon, wow god did it make ya eyes water lol, there not giving me much pain meds, physical therapy who got me out of bed on the walker, they said just ask the nurses and they should allow me some stronger meds. Just sat waiting for my evening dinner to be served. Think it's the same menu as at the Hilton lol 😀

Hi Steven,
Are you apprehensive yet? Don't be, you will be fine from the anaesthetic being administered to being woken after op for me was 1hr 50 min which is not long. This time next week it will all be over. Good luck.

It's a bit of a shock when you discover just how weak your operated leg it to start with but you'll be amazed how quickly it will get stronger. Do your exercises and make sure you balance the movement/rest combination. Don't stay still for too long in any position. Go for a little walk around the house until you can manage to go outside. I hope you get on as quickly and smoothly as I have. All the best and fingers crossed they may let you go home today.

Iโm sorry youโre having quite a lot of pain. I didnโt have much, but the staff were really good with meds. Tell the staff, and get some more meds if necessary. You need to keep ahead of the pain, it will help your recovery. All the best today, Judithย

Hi, was up till early hours, couldn't get rested, went of about half two in the morning, then was up to walk myself to the washroom, was in a lot of pain then asked three times from 5am till 5.35am for strong meds. Nothing think I must have gone off then, up at 7.30am again managed to get myself to bathroom/washroom. Fingers crossed a positive day ahead yep. I know what ya mean about keeping one step ahead of the pain Meds,😁

Or get your partner (if you have one of course) to lift it in and out of the bed as I did, for the first week. 😊😂
