I'm just wondering... Glandular Fever Symptoms

Posted , 25 users are following.

I am (usually) a fit 29 yr old woman who is very active.

I have been suffering from GF since April and only had blood tests done about a week ago as I broke down to my Dr and said I was sick of being sick as its now July. I had a Full Blood Count, EBV and STD & I got my results back. Everything was fine except for 1 - the EBV. This is the worst I've ever felt, hence why I wanted to be tested for every thing.

My symptoms include:

Sore throat

Tight neck

Pain behind ears

Overwhelming and extreme tiredness.

Headaches

On an off I get these symptoms:

Pins and Needles in arms hands and feet.

Sore neck.

Sore back between shoulder pains.

Aching hips.

Now I am having chest pain, is this common?

I haven't read anything about chest, back or aching hips and I am hoping I'm not suffering from anything else?

Any more advice from anyone or if any one has different like me can you please respond so I can set my mind at ease and stop thinking I have something else more serious? It will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

    Hi All

I'm just wondering if any of you (even though extremely exhausted) are light sleepers and if there's anything you do to try and help assist you with getting a full 8 hours sleep?

Any help would be much apprieciated.

    Hi all,

I was diagnosed with GF a week ago. The worst is over (fever, swollen glands and mouth ulcers) but today I find it hurts in my hips to bend over. The area between lower back and butt and the muscles in my butt are so sore, even when lying down. I had bacterial tonsillitis a week before gf symptoms started so I have had a rough couple of weeks. I did discover one thing that really, really helps get better faster which is juicing raw vegetables such as kale, spinach, brocolli, carrot and beetroot. My mouth ulcers went from painful to gone this morning after my first juicing yesterday. Get on it if you haven't yet. Also my iron and vit d was really low so I'm on supplements for that. Hope you all feel better soon 🙂

Hello- I know this is an old post but I’m hoping to know whether you did confirm what was going on? And, hope that you’re now better!

I am having all of the symptoms you describe, and have had a low-grade fever for several weeks now, however, my bloods are coming back mostly unremarkable. I’m now going to have one specifically for glandular fever- was this your confirmation, also?

    Best wishes

Hi, yes I had to have a blood test to confirm glandular fever. You need to eat a lot of veggies and fruit, take lots of water and rest. Don't eat junk food. Take curcumin supplements. I had horrible mouth ulcers as well but I'm all better now. Blood tests also showed very low iron which is why I was so sick so maybe get that checked too.

I recovered in about four weeks. I was also juicing raw vegetables like beetroot and carrot and kale. Hope you feel better soon.

If that is glandular fever then yes. I did recover quite quickly when I started juicing vegetables.

    Jaygov12,

I am 31 and was diagnosed with reactivation of EBV (mono) about a month ago. I was constantly feeling dizzy and then started feeling tired, numbness in my arms and legs, had the chills on and off.  All of which is creating a ton of anxiety. The neurologist is having me get an MRI to make sure there is nothing more serious going on. I just wanted to see how you are feeling now and how you treated it. Thanks!

      Hi there,

Hope you are feeling OK. Question when you say reactivation did it show up on your igm? What test actually confirmed it. My igm levels are over 300 but it doesn't show active. Just that I had it in past but really high levels. I feel horrible crazy chills no fever body aches dark circles

      Any thoughts would he appreciated.

      Thanks

maclieb85 - I tested positive for EBNA, VCA IgG, and EA (D), and negative for VCA IgM, which indicates reactivation. My IgM levels were over 250.
