I wouldn't worry Silver - you aren't missing much except a lot of very upset punters!!!

silver...it seems things are REALLY MESSED UP right now! everyone's struggling to figure this new format out!

don't be surprised if you get slammed with a bunch if emails all at once...and then, good luck in trying to make sense of them!

Thank you Eileen and Lynda. I'm still locked out. Sounds like others are having the same problem. What has happened?

They've done a reskin as they call it - and it is total bl""dy chaos. Notifications are coming in multiples for the same or not at all, you can't find anything, for me it is jumping about all over the place when I try to do anything and there is no logic to where a reply to a specific post will appear - certainly nowhere near the particular comment it was intended for. Emoticons have disappeared and we were told "Just type them in" - er, how?????? We had no access to our past posts/replies, they had disappeared from our profile pages so someone I sent links to and needs them for her medical appointment can't find them any more. That may be sorted today but I really won't hold my breath.

It is only too obvious no-one had tried using the forum first to see how it worked and what we use and need and then include that in the new version. And not a line of "How it should work" - they were leaving that until the glitches were ironed out. But when you don't know how to do something you can't identify the problems. And even I am thinking of leaving...

Thank you, Eileen. I think I've only received your reply because I kept the thread open.  The emoji has become a square????

please don't leave Eileen! it's looking like things may be starting to settle down (fingers crossed).

you helped me through last weekend when I thought I'd lost contact with everyone. you definitely kept me from pulling out my hair!πŸ˜‚

let's give it a chance, and hopefully things will get back to "normal" soon!

Am I correct in thinking we no longer receive emails with notifications? I'm trying to make sense of all this!

    • Posted

So are we all! No, you should still be getting email notifications, I am. But they have been totally chaotic and some people HAVEN'T had any, you aren't alone! And some of us have had too many...

I'll try to report your post as feedback. Even that seems to be a trifle AWOL.

Ooops - just seen your first reply!!! No, emojis are AWOL currently. Nick told us they are still supported, just type them in. Really? How? How should I know which are and which aren't? But they are being worked on.

Lynda - I have been here 3 or 4 times before, this forum that had been messed about with and didn't work properly. One time there were about 3 of the old members still here - there are 2 other forums and we had taken refuge there in the meantime - and for months and months it was very quiet but it did rebuild. The same has happened on the other forums too, one has nearly died after a major host problem with just half a dozen of us using it, and eventually you just get tired of readjusting, reworking what you have spent many hours creating in the past and not being able to rely on getting on at all.

This one has been told before something won't work/will pose a problem by people who have worked here for a long time. Who know far more about the forum than I do. And now, yet again, that has been ignored and we users left to take the brunt.

Eileen...if you elect to leave us😩, please check in once in awhile to see if things are any better....I don't want you to go, your info is invaluable....but I sure get how FRUSTRATED you are. I am tooπŸ’•

I just did a little searching and if you press the windows icon on your keyboard (assuming you have an ordinary computer without a touch screen) AND the period key a little window pops up with emojis on it. Along the bottom of the little window is a row of symbols and each of those will give you another page of emojis. If you have a touch screen then the keyboard icon on your screen will bring up the touch keyboard, where emojis are accessed through the smiley face key.

Exactly - and the point I made, I fail to see why the pop-up menu was a problem. Nor did I think being told to type them in was an adequate response - my comment has been passed on! They should be back sooner or later...

Why should I suddenly have to do that? There is an icon for insert image now which I personally am unlikely to ever use but I did use the emoijis quite a bit and they were there.

As for the minus being required - it is required on some sites.

Does anyone else have problems with seeing the cursor in the reply box? Some of the time I can't see it but I can still type and the text appears. But if I want to resite it to make a correction I can't always see it so it is a bit of trial and error to be sure it is in the correct place.

That did make me laugh. It could be useful, I guess!!!! I'm not receiving any emails. I am only responding to this thread as I've kept it open.

    • Posted

I like that!! maybe I'll just follow your lead and just "jump" in wherever I can!!

lol, my post is just as likely to make sense like that as it does while getting thrown all about!πŸ‘
