i need to unload my mind !!!

hi all this has nothing to do with tkr but i just need to unload my mind .my son aged 33 yrs last night in our  city was hit by a taxi  it was a hit and run !!!  he was out in the city centre with friends at 10pm a taxi driver got mad with the group he was with when they didnt get out of his way quickk enough (it was a narrow side street ) he reveved the engine and picked up speed and blew my son up the bonnet of the car he landed on the footpath ,driver sped off .luckily my son is not badly hurt he spent 10  hours in A&E he has concussion ,whiplash and cuts to his head and arm .very shaken .im totaly shocked ,his friend got it on his phone and ctv in shop got some of it taxi number is hazy so hopefully police will be able to clean it up . what kind of person would do such a thing !!! im so lucky he is alive

    hi all thank god i can say we found the taxi driver !!!!!   and the police now will take a statement from him in the next few days .he has admitted doing it so hopefully we will get justice .  it could take awhile to get legal proceedings going as it takes time here ,but we are confident it will happen

      thanks to you all its been hard over the last month .. my son is doing ok just back at work this week feeling alot better ,,but still tired all the time ,cant go to the the gym that he loves cant have a drink . but he is doing fine and it could have been alot alot worse so we are lucky there

      That's good news. Its amazing how slow the process can be but the main thing is that it keeps moving along. In the US it's e an slowed Down More because most of the can drivers don't speak English (or so they say) and they drag things out with interpreters and the normal legal trickery that goes with it. By the time they get a court date and then a couple of well timed delays no-one can remember anything or the witnesses aren't surely anything including their own names. Then it comes down to a plea bargain. Justice is supposed to be blind but it can also be lame at times. Hope yours is swift and to the point.

      So pleased to hear he has been caught.  Justice may well be done hopefully.

      hope you are doing ok.  Still struggling here but have to keep going.

      well to be honest things are pretty slow here as well ,we have alot here that claim they    no speak english!!!!  ,but amazing they know all their rights ! ,and know how to claim every single cent that they can get and boy do they get it or claim the raciest card !! .  but in saying that this guy is irish and from this city so we might get satisfaction . it could take anything from 6mths to a year or more .to come to court crazy really as we are a small city but the wheels of justice roll very slow  we will have to wait and see but glad we found him and hopefully he wonnt be driving taxis again

      thanks patsy im doing ok now but its been very hard to look at your big strong son (he is over 6ft )looking so low he has gone back to work and after the day he is shattered trying to concentrate but he is improving so thats great . finding this guy himself has given him a boost .

      ive been pretty low for sometime weather here is shocking we had a hail storm in our area yesterday it covered the place like snow it caused a 14 car pile up on the motorway it was so sudden cars couldnt brake ive never seen anything like it its been 5mths of crap cold wet weather so that didnt help with the mood .doctor gave me something to help me sleep and relax me but failed to tell me they were anti depressents , i took one and i was in the bathroom during the night very sick and very dizzy the following morning i was wrecked and all day i was out of it so i never took anymore . .when this weather picks up i know i will pick up .its to easy for doctors to answer every problem with pills  im not ready for giving up and resorting to pills to keep happy

      its good that we caught him thats for sure , im doing ok this will help .

      sorry to hear your struggling !! its a really hard op it takes its toll on you .we all have had down times .but the vast majority of cases the outcome is great and a new life after and no reason why yours will end in a full recovery so i wish you the very best liz x

      Let's hope he get well and truly punished, that way you will see justice done.  Then you can concentrate on yourself.  Hope all is going well with you.

      Try things like lavender, hops or other natural ways to Help you relax.  They won't help with the pain, but might calm you enough at night to help you sleep x

    Thank goodness!

    Hopefully the police will sort this out & he'll get what's coming to him. To drive off without checking is disgusting.

    It could have been so much worse for your son!

    Hope you are improving with the knee too Linda. I'm taking one step forward, & 2 back!!

      thanks veronica ,my knee is what it is now and i will have to accept it im afraid ,im not killing myself bending and straightening ,i do some of course but im a year and seven months since revision ,now dont get me wrong the pain is less but it wont improve more than this .its taken alot for me to accept it but for now ive got to get on with it .its early days yet for you veronica .my knee in the first place was a complete mess up so no reason why yours will be good i have a friend here in ireland he had a revision and is doing really well mine id say is rare well i hope so as i would not wish this on anybody good luck to you xx
